Trendey was born three years ago. To be exact 3 years and 9 days ago – it first saw light on August 20th 2009. Lots and lots of interior design nerdery has flowed under the bridge since.
In 2009 I was on the hunt for an apartment in Stockholm and my sister Henen looked for a house in London, UK. We frequently sent each other emails with interior design ideas. Just as blog posts actually! Uploading them to this site was (and kept being) a mere simplification. That’s the story of this blog.
Soon though, Henen got busy renovating her house, but I kept sharing my ideas and inspiration here. The name Trendey stem from our interest in trends, as an expression of our cultural surroundings. Trendey was also inspired by the, at the time, popular Swedish blogger Mogi. This creative gal had set up her own vocabulary, and in a youtube video (unfortunately taken down) she gave a hilarious lecture on contemporary words. One of her main conclusions was that she had spotted, or actually invented, a new trend: all words should end with -ey. ‘She’s Mogey and things are groovey or nastey’. This was just the week before Trendey was born.
And well no, Urban Dictionary hasn’t caught up on this language use yet. Actually, they say trendey isn’t defined yet.

That’s the point. The main thrill for me are things & styles having a peculiar character and decor standing out from the crowd even if only for the sake of it. Out-of-the-boxey. Undefined in terms of what’s supposedly right and wrong decor-wise. Such ‘rules’ are made to be broken. Creativity, personal expressions & homey homes makes me happy. And as Abigail Ahern is quoted saying: Good taste is all very well, but utterly pointless without a sense of fun.
Yesterday, Trendey got a new cleaner look. The primary navigation is by interior style. Pick and choose in the menu above and you’ll get a feed of such posts. During these blogging years – you’re looking at the documentation of my home decor journey - I’ve scrutinized a wide range of interior styles. This width & depth in styles is, I think, Trendey’s best asset. You can still of course choose to only look at wallpapers, or bathrooms, or headboards, or frame groupings, etc etc, whatever you are looking for, by picking one in the footer – this place is very compartmentalized! Anyway, what I’ve personally enjoyed most these 3 years and 9 days – apart from all time spent drooling over gorgeous decor pics collecting inspiration – is definitey you. It’s been so much fun discussing pics & decor features with you all! Please continute to join in on discussions – I sincerely love to hear from you.
