Sweden is probably the world’s most boring country in terms of window treatments. All equal, and equally boring – mostly panel lengths and linen, or plaid in the kitchen =) I had no idea that there was a whole encyclopedia on curtains. Cool! Thanks for the tip!!

    Thanks for commenting!

Agree totally – curtains/window treatments are the blind spot of Swedish homes. Pre-sewn panels lengths of linen is the #1 seller…

In our new flat, all windows need 3 m curtain length so we need to mobilize a large quantity of imagination, buy fabric and sew. We’ll see where it gets =)

Oh my, that curtain layering is very detailed! I would love to get my hands into one of those. And those old style of book illustration would make this book quite a good investment! Personally, I want to get unique ideas for my window and door curtains – maybe by merging different styles to create something new and outstanding.

Not at all, Hannas! I’ve seen Swedish houses that combined different window treatments all across Europe. Sure they just borrowed some designs, but I’m pretty sure they combined those designs to make something unique of their own.

Hi, and thanks a lot for stopping by! Yes, that book is extraordinarily detailed, it’s got visual index of well, like 2000 ideas on how to hang curtains. I found it great for inspiration. There isn’t much curtain inspiration around I think – and that’s sad! By being creative and experimenting, merging styles like you said, I’m certian a whole lot of new, unique and outstandig looks can be achieved.

When I had just moved in, I quite carelessly threw a sheer and floral dress fabric on the curtain rod and it actually didn’t look to bad – twas great for summer! I think one shouldn’t be too careful with textiles.
