Hide Your TV in A Chic Cupboard Or Mix it With Frames

Friday October 16, 2009

Isn’t it sad how living rooms often are arranged and furnished around a TV? As if that apparatus were the missing link and the great well of happiness. In the real estate pics (apartments for sale in central Stockholm) quite often the TV is missing. Hey, don’t they watch TV in Stockholm?! I’m sure they do, and I’m sure the TV is hidden in a store room while the flashy photos are taken and when the apartment is shown for potential buyers. Why? Because it aint beautiful. Is it useful still? If I’d choose, (I know Henen has a different view on this matter :p) I’d live without it. Or I’d keep an old little fat TV wedged somewhere dusky (if the mood takes me to watch a movie or so). Anyhow, Living etc presents 7 stylish ideas on how to disguise a flatscreen TV. Among these 7 thoughtworthy proposals, there’s two I fancy in particular, first: To tuck your flatscreen TV away in a stylish cupboard to integrate it into your television.

That’s an excellent idea! There are many beautiful cupboards, not least old vintage ones. Of choice and with some paint they’ll fit any interior perfectly. An equally good option, I think, is the idea to mix your TV with picture frames: Cluster artwork in a relaxed, uneven way around the TV with uneven spacing between. This will look decorative, trick the eye and draw attention away from the TV (adding a desk and chair isn’t necessary imho, I get a hotel-feeling).

Not too bad! If the TV-programme is boring, one can watch nice things in the frames instead, no one will take notice :) These are the five other ideas. From the left below: Set your TV on a sleek unit, Create a recess for your TV, Disguise your TV behind a panel, Turn your TV into a clever mirror,  and: Cover your TV with a sliding door.
