Colourboost The Whiteness!

The weather outside these days is reminiscent of the interior style that has been (and for some, still is) worshipped in Sweden: totally white from all the crispy snow, and when sun sets: black. Some naked trees to add a bit of wood. This little pic to the right, via est magazine, has circulated in the blogosphere the last few days and not least on many Swedish interior blogs, It’s been said oooh’s & ahh’s: what a lovely colour scheme! The pendulum has begun to swing and this is so groundbreaking it deserves an own post :) So following this lead, here’s some more creative & colour-boosted versions of a whiteish style!

This pic above is from Living etc‘s fresh new March issue – an issue filled to the brim with exciting white interiors. A touch of homespun (the chair), a fun flowery sofa together with another, colourful, sofa and a gorgeous rug makes this place interesting & cool. As you see can one side of the wall is not decorated yet, but it can be filled with basically anything. Flowing velvet drapes adorn the windows and adds extra warmth to the room (you can’t see that in the pic though, only in my mind). And below, same source and inspirational value: a white kitchen and white bedroom stylishly and creatively boosted with lovely colourful elements.

Sweet Saturday

A little note from a corner of our house…

Apart from the fact that I obviously fancy drink trolleys - they add so much to the atmosphere! – and I really like this turquoise industrial one, there’s two other favourites in this pic. (Or 3 with the cockatoo, 4, 5… I like all my things! :p). Mainly though, I cherish the old pendulum clock which my late Grandpa Sven got when he quit his job as a private chauffeur in the 50s, and – a newly discovered beauty: the pantop lamp from VerPan designed by Verner Panton. I love its finish, the bell-like shape & the textile cable. Happy wknd!

Let the Holiday Season Begin!

| via marie claire maison |

Today, it’s the “Window-Display-Sunday” and the holiday season is officially started! As you might know (or noticed :)) I am not one of those Scandinavians loving all-white (with a sparse touch of graphic, black or grey and toilet-tiled walls). Nope. I love eclectic, boho, colourful, interesting and homey interiors. And X-mas decor makes no exception. Let it speak, glimmer and shine! And lucky for me, this is how the trend winds blow too. More and more colourfulness!

Beautiful Blues

| via sf girl by bay / marcus hay |

There’s some new blues in town this season – like the very fashionable cobolt blue  – and overall many variations of strong blues. I like the strong blue vibe yet I fancy the blue-greens too. Here’s a bunch of interesting blueish styles.

Swedish L.A

Here’s two sweet pics from Swedish magazine Hus & Hem. As you can tell, the (Swedish) people living here are inspired by Scandinavian simplicity and functionalism, and they actually have Danish ancestry.

Reading magazines, I always find it intersting with the tips & tricks provided by featured people. In this case, their advice is to move slowly with the home decor. They say: Think carefully, both in terms of function and form, before you start changing your home. Be inspired. And think twice if it’s really worth buying expensive things just because of the brand.
