Flowers!

Like nothing else, flowers represent summer.

What would this white-tiled kitchen be without the flowers?

Instant loveliness.

The most effective home decor feature of them all.

Tävling and some kitchen thoughts

Ok, I know that first part of the title don’t make sense to you English speakers. But I have a giveaway, for those tall and fresh Vikings that can be found in Sweden’s population register only – explained at the end of this post. It’s a thanks for Trendey’s efforts as part of the jury in a contest held by Swedish-founded Electrolux with its home appliance brand Husqvarna: about designing your dream kitchen. You can try the thing out, look at Swedish peoples’ ideas on dream kitchens and give your votes here. Every week the four entries with the most votes are lifted out into the final. After next week, the jury designates prize winners among all the finalists.

Anyhow, this, again, got me thinking of my dream kitchen. Inspiration on kitchens is not scarce these days. There’s plenty of different styles around, although the industrial style kitchens and the good ‘ol country kitchens tend to top the league. Personally I favour a combination of the two – something like cozy industrial’ or ‘country sleek’. At the moment, I am very fond of the kitchen style in the previous post. To me, charm is key. And I really really like it when kitchens have decor details just like any other room. These pics are today’s inspiration!

Kitchen Details

Today I’m inspired by kitchen details. Maybe it’s because I talked to Henen today about her kitchen-under-construction. I was deeply engrossed in the subject matter of kitchen design and haven’t really come out of it! Sometimes, I find kitchen’s being a bit left behind in terms of decoration. With all functions and features in place, there’s no reason kitchen decor should be less fun and creative than that of e.g. a living room. In these pics, small details make big things happen to the kitchen atmosphere.

Like an Emergengy Room with a kitchen…

We usually only post stuff that really inspire us here at Trendey (or pics from our own projects) but there is an interior design phenomena I just can’t leave uncommented. The white ‘light and fresh’ Swedish (or Stockholmish) interior style is wildly, almost insanely, acclaimed. I know a lot of you love it too. This style is not just a trend in Stockholm, it’s a norm. White, white, white…Increasingly though, the norm has been questioned – thank god – by people who love colours, creativity and a homey atmosphere. When the chips are down, the white hygenic/’industrial’ style is all but a cosy place to curl up and recharge in. It is actually more like a box to keep in robots in, or like “ER with a kitchen”, than a home. I think these pics takes the biscuit. They raise the stakes and somehow says it all. A kitchen fully wrapped in tiles. How clean, light and fresh! ;)

Voguish Apt Staging

Pretty nice kitchen huh? It certainly is white white white, but I like the combination of the slightly country-ish kitchen dressers and the – with a decor term coined by Henen – public toilet style tiles. Do you remember the new cool real estate agent I wrote about a few months ago – Fantastic Frank? They put effort and care into showing the character of each abode, using a stylist and a renowned fashion photographer. They have now opened their office, and these are some pics from a Stockholm apartment currently for sale. I think this BBQ cooktop pic from the kitchen is stunningly delicious:

Food is also frequently used by another inspiring real estate agent I wrote about I a few days ago, Alvhem, but Fantastic Frank has taken the stadging concept one step further – or let’s say in another direction – with the vibe of an in vogue interior magazine.

Oh, I can not help to say,.. the owner has dropped his scarf! As for the ‘red leather glove pic’ below – certainly set with chic interigue – I have some mixed emotions, in terms of styling in real estate advertising. It is kind of hard to imagine the owner saying “Hey, now that you take pics of my flat, would you please make use of my right hand glove?” ;) i.e it’s showy and foremost right out balancing on the ugly vs cool-thread. Brave. Anyho, I unconditionally love its unconventionality (just visit the all-embracing real estate lister Hemnet and compare ads)

You wouldn’t guess these pics derive from a real estate ad, would you? My favourtie pic in this specific ad is undeniably the one below. I’d fancy placing my armchair right there.
