Pretty Much What I Need

Daytime, I’m fine with this:

Summer House Dream II

Hepp, I got a second summer house! In my mind…that is. A green oasis and energy booster retreat! It has the loveliest windows (above, via igotasweettooth), cool details such as the vintage lamp (via etsy) and loads and loads of fresh flowers and lively popping colours:

And of course, a huge huge garden, almost a forest. With some seating areas here and there.

Mm, that’s my summer hideaway!

The interiors of a dream summer house

My mind decorates a dream summer house. I keep coming back to it, and it’s like I find scenes I don’t necessarily want in my regular home, but it fulfills the idea of my summer escape – my resort in the forest by the sea. These are pieces of my cottage, please step inside.

This is where I sit and have a glass of fine old port to my bookreadings [via Inredningsbloggen], the bathroom atmosphere [via gingerella], a lovely lovely curtain [via dottieangel ] and the charmig ‘wedding sign’ by OldNewAgain [for all other pics in this post: click to source ]

Let’s have a great summer now! See you when I see you.

Patio with an indoor feel

I love patios and verandas with an indoor feeling – i.e., decorated outdoor rooms! I really long to have one roomy outdoor space. Our little balcony isn’t much to decorate and we are also limited by some rules, e.g. do not attach anything to the facade, and if we want a protective textile around the balcony it needs to be in the most boring shade of blue (to unify and ‘match’ the house). So, I stick to flower pots and planting some seeds and just keep dreamin!

Bring out the decor!

If we are to identify one strong overall trend on the garden/outdoors part it would be to decor as if you were inside; to bring the interior design ideas outside. Below I have put together some inspirational expressions of this.

To use step ladders in home decor is not a new thing, but it’s surely well suited for outdoor decor. Not least on a balcony, to use height. Enhance the summer with tropical colours!  Why not paint a an outdoor wall candy pink? And further emphasise the tropical summer feel with details in green and orange…An outside mirror (bottom photo, left) is decorative. It gives an illusion of space and with colourful furniture it will set a tropical, yet urban vibe. Let your home decor-thoughts, e.g. for a living room, follow you outside. Comfortable chairs and sofas, and decorative details such as lanterns and butterflies (bottom, right)….

An excellent, neat and ûbertrendy example of the interior-goes-outside-trend can be found in the summer house of the writer/entrepreneur/ journalist/blogger Alex Schulman on the island of Gotland. Wall art, details, decorative lighting and even a wall shelf. A magic garden room!
