Smokey, Heavenly Blue…

Think I need not say again how I love blue. Upper pic is a wall in our guest room/home office. Nothing special, but the simple can also be nice! And below that, also blue simplicity: a room at Hotel Stelor on the island Gotland.

A little more complex is this fresh loveliness from Anthropologie’s August news, also smokey lovely blueness. Yum:

delightful dachsies

d istinctly talented Swedish designer Lisa Bengtsson delivered her graphic design graduation project – the wallpaper Familjen – only a couple of years ago, and has since then received many awards for her adorable and clever designs (one of my favourites along the way has been the Ros-Marie wallpaper). Lisa Bengtsson derives inspiration from people around her and the atmosphere of bygone days. Now, as a mother of twins, she has pondered questions of family resemblance, similarities and differences. This has resulted in a brand new design, featuring a multitude of dachshunds!

These illustrations are sold (in limited editions) in cooperation with Save the Children Sweden – Design for Children’s Rights. The dachsies all originate from different corners of the world and the design shows that despite our differences and regardless of where we were born – we are all very much alike.

These sweet personalities also form a fun medallion pattern. Three of them in close-up, in either blue or gold, are available through textiles company Mairo as fabric by meter and as cushions. There is also a pattern with 12 dogs, which is also available in oilcloth. The pattern is called Tillsammans (Together). This one is definitely a new favourite!

Something Blue…

…together with something new, something old and something borrowed. An excellent interior design formula!

The ‘borrowed’-part might have several translations in terms of decor, e.g borrowed from another style…borrowed from a friend…Bottom line is though, I’m crazy for blue. Hit the tag blue you’ll find a dozen posts I’ve written about this colour. It keeps coming back! And, I am completely on the mix-track. Take stuff you love, whether they are new, old, inherited, found at the dump or borrowed. Let the elements play together. Add blue :)

Today’s Delicacy: Ros-Marie Wallpaper

ros-marie

Lisa Bengtsson’s Ma Fleur-collection for Your Wallpaper is taking floral wallpaper into a new dimension. The rose – Queen of the garden – has an interesting shape and colour. In Ros-Marie, designer Lisa Bengtsson has been inspired by this; the beauty of the rose, and by old bookmarks and her own thoughts and dreams.

I Heart Lisa Bengtsson

familjen_wallpaper

Name a Swede that isn’t proud of the fresh and oh soo creative designer Lisa Bengtsson. She left Berghs School of Communication in 2007 with a graduation project (the wallpaper above) making future career come self-evident. The wallpaper is named Familjen (The Family) and has a pattern of frames. It wants to tell a story about how we live and frame our lives. You can decorate it with photos of loved ones, you can put knobs on the wall that you hang things on, you can do anything that expresses your story, or you can just leave the design as it is. A roll (length 10m, width 0,53m) has a pricetag of approx £70 (795 SEK). Also, keep your eyes out for the Special Edition Gold version of the wallpaper.

I just love this poster “Drottningen von Savannen”. I do not have one in my possesion yet, but it’s on it’s waaay! It will be hangning in my study room. Soo cool, no explanation needed =) Well, maybe one thing: the ornate, guilded frame is printed on the poster as well! Price approx. £17.

Wait, there are more lovely things. The fabric of this cushion to the left is named “Sir Harald”. Harald is Lisa Bengtsson’s great grandfather. Next to that super-trendey fabric, a piece of peacock cup & plate designed for Indiska (and yes, there seems to be birdcages painted on it!). A list of Lisa Bengtsson retailers can be found here. And btw, here’s a short interview with Lisa Bengtsson, from the Formex fair.
