Décorer avec la Tour Eiffel

…if you pardon my French. To me, French/eclectic/Parisian interior style is associated with great beauty. It is no news, at all, I love them ol’ French headboards. An Eiffel Tower is really the least you can have in your home. Seriously. A French reminder. A link to dreams of centuries past, a bohemian life and decadent creativity. I have no image to match my internal scene (!), but here’s some of all the Eiffel stuff around right now.

Inspiration for Purposeless Doors

I just have to re-post this interesting wall paper piece I stumbled across over at Apartment Theraphy. It’s for doorways – unused doors I presume, a handle would certainly interfere with the picture – and it features ‘old parisian metropolitan’s stairs’ (above), Montmartre’s stairs and stairs from the Catacombs, an empty dressing, escalators, a vintage iron store front, a castel corridor, a mesy book stack…view full range here. The idea is funny I think, although not all too often useful if not you remove some skirting and put up door moldings on the wall -  install a faux door. That would make this an exemple of framed wall art…! Anyway, for the one who has shut a door whose crossing serves no purpose – this should be excellent inspiration.

Go French in the bedroom!

French-style bedrooms are romantic and sophisticated as well as seriously trendey. To create a French look, stick to one colour theme (for example pale blue, green, gold or pink) and team with distressed or whitewashed furniture. A sumptuous chandelier, soft floor-length curtains with tassle tiebacks and some antique items to give a shabby chic feel will further add to the look. And most importantly, allow a fab French style bed to take centre-stage in the room! I love the dramatic carved headboards of Louis XIV-style beds – if it’s good enough for royalty it’s good enough for me I reckon! :)

Take a look at these examples (both from the Living etc gallery)
