Welcome to my place! And where better to start off a housetour than in the hallway? My favourite items here are the quirky clown bust and the vintage-find mirror.

Another view. I really enjoy the colour infusion from the purple wood floor (painted in Farrow and Ball’s “Pelt”) and the roughness of the diy branch chandelier – which casts great shadows in the nighttime.  Still a lot of unfulfilled decoration potential and empty walls around, but slowly and surely I aim to fill them up!

Finally, a glimpse below of the living room… The glam flowers in the Chinese urn are from my husband on our wedding anniversary last week – regrettably not a permanent fixture in this room! :) That’s it for now, but the housetour will continue shortly. Next up, dining room and kitchen!

All the oddities. Of any kind. Busts, psychology heads or any other fairly quirky & odd object. The science trend also shows a lot of anatomy posters, bell jars, eye tests and well, you name it. And we’re into retro, retro, retro! Retro might be the strongest trend of the 2010′s, so far and I wouldn’t be surprised if totally (I mean we have yet to see the full swing of 80s and 90s.). Moving on, home decor smacks of creativity. It’s the #1 feature of the undecorator. Personal collections in a variety of ways, e.g. mood boards, are typical (and functional) interest-adders to a room.

And the letters and numbers of course (companioned with vintage signs and messages). Oh, and the hotter than hot drinks trolley. Crazy popular.

Wallpapers are as popular as dark or mildly painted walls (or white walls, but I wouldn’t admit that, you know how I feel about white :p) Preferably Granny’s old wallpapers. And we’ve seen loads and loads of world maps and globes:

Riding us into the globetrotter-trend. With kilim (or kelim), ikat and other ethnic inspired fabrics and patterns. And to close for today, all the wild & creative frame groupings. To display art, pant hangers are useful or well, just ordinary clothes hangers can also do.

Today – or rather two weeks ago,… I just updated this outdated old post about trendey’s now former navigation system – I’m loving (still loving!) this framed collection of orphaned gloves, and the mushroom & lamp-display.

Sprung from the steady science trend; we’ve seen anatomy, botany, you name it, even entomology. This science, or pseudoscience to be specific, is called phrenology and is based on the concept that the brain is the organ of the mind. It studies the skull as a guide to various mental faculties, emotions, mood and spiritual traits. Analysis practice was developed by L.N. Fowler who – to illustrate his findings – devised a bust on which it all was illustrated on a cranial map. And here we have it, it’s supertrendy and will make you appear like a pseudo-psychiatrist ;) Head to the left £19.99 at Rockett St George.

White wire chairs have never ever looked this good! Together with the sacred expression given by the window decor, the painting…the pure white together with the chunky leather sofa – it’s something intriguing about it all. The dining area, below, is smashing too. The Panton chairs joining that beautiful table is an excellent case on how to boost the rough (or antique) table + sleek design chairs-combo.
