Decorated Bathrooms

…is certainly a favourite topic of mine. I can’t get enough of nicely decorated bathrooms, because in Sweden, we are uncontrollably late in that regard. It seems to take forever to leave – or at least ease up – the sterile totally-tiled ideal. I’ve collected some dreadful Swedish examples in this post (along with some inspirational, of course). And here’s another round of homey and nice – decorated! – bathrooms.

Bathroom + WIC is such a nice combo! Something in the corner, with the shoes & boots, makes it look a bit like a hallway, but apart from that I think it’s gorgeous. Great example of the motto A bathroom is a room too..

Interesting! Gives me think of both an orphanage from the 30s and Russian nouveau riche. Though contemporary.

Just a little bit of decor. But enough to make it homey & cozy! And below, an Asian vibe. Clean and strict, yet very inviting. Lovely black floor…

I love the Blues

By Trendey-favourite, master of dark interiors Abigail Ahern, via The Selby.

Such an easy way to add interest to a kitchen: a dark painted wall, a painting and a distressed chair.

Blonde wood goes so well with blues.

New Season Ahead

Dearest readers. I hope you enjoyed Henen’s House Tour! Judging from your response through comments & emails it was a real treat. Thanks Henen! And she’s got many more rooms in her house, so there’s more where that came from! Also, although I only got three rooms and a kitchen, I’ve done some new things recently (e.g. re-styled a drawer and re-arranged a wall) that I will share with you all soon.

Autumn season is ready to bloom and it’s an exciting time ahead now. This coming weekend, the largest meeting point for nordic interior designthe Formex fair – will take place and Trendey is invited to cover it. (As said before, this season’s trend theme is Cozy Minimalism – i.e. a contradiction in terms)) I don’t know about you, but I am really ready for some new influences now: Interior scenes not seen a thousand times already. These two pics, from September issues of Marie Claire Maison (first pic), and Style at home (2nd pic) do thrill me a bit.

A nicely decorated kitchen! I do love the ethnic vibe and the use of different tones of green and pistachio. A slight touch of industrial and the oddish objects on the selves complete the style. As an update, I just found this kitchen below and felt an urgent need to add it here (it’s Isabelle’s at Dos Family, click in for more detailed views).

I love the mood and it has also that new vibe. The tiles are gorgeous and the decor so exciting.
Below, black walls with frame groupings taken a step further as the collection of artwork is very expressive and, let say: well-travelled. I hope to see more of these interesting and dynamic globetrotterish/ethnic styles in the months to come. And I long for more folklore!

Happy Birthday Dear Trendey…

trendey was born on August 20th in the year 2009. At this time both me and my big sister Henen were in the process of finding new homes; me a turn of the century apt in Stockholm, Henen a period house in London. Because of this, the interior design interest on both sides saw a huge upswing. We frequently sent each other emails with interior design ideas. Just as blog posts actually. Uploading them to this site was a mere simplification. Now 2 years of blogging have past – a milestone – and it’s been an incredibly stimulating and creatively inspiring time. Above all, I’ve appreciated being part of the blogosphere, talking to you guys! You’re the best and what makes it worthwhile. Hurray to all interior-geeks! Henen wrote her latest post in December of 2010 (from then she has been busy renovating her house) and me alone has been running the show since then. Now what could be a better b-Day gift to Trendey than a house tour at Henen’s? Stay tuned and it will soon be posted! Lovely photos are loaded and guess what: Henen is back! Good for me ’cause I need to totally focus on finish my doctoral thesis this Autumn. Now keep an eye out for Henen’s house tour – a bunch of deadly trendey pics – the one above is an appetizer; another view from her study in black. (And hey, all posts about our own homes ends up in this category) Hip hip hurrays to Trendey!

Cabinets, Chests & Cupboards

Cabinets and chests are the ultimate home decor items. The paramount pieces of furniture. Don’t you think? It’s highly useful and can add so much interest, style and character….I’ve tried to collect the chest, cabinets, etc we’ve featured during the years (hey, Trendey is turning 2 years old in August!) into an own category. When I think of if, we actually got two versions of IKEA:s Hemnes in our home. One glass-door cabinet that can be glimpsed in the background of this pic, and a wardrobe/cupboard whose doors I’ve painted chalkboard, changed the knobs on and added a tassel to (no pic, yet). A great low-budget alternative. Most of all though, I’d like one worn & vintage.

And I do love the Chinese cabinets. The ethnic/globetrotter vibe is irresistible.

Lastly, I really like this one with the botanical-black backdrop:
