Designer stag auction!

Graham and Green has launched an auction of designer stag heads (Stag Sixteen) today, The auction, which is a joint initiative with Centrepoint in London, UK, aims to help young homeless persons get their futures back.  Some brilliant stag heads to choose from and a very worthy cause, so if you have the wallet for it, go and drop your bid here!

These are my favourites:  1 – By Rob Ryan. This is certainly a stag with attitude! :-) Wacky, mustard-yellow and punky with a strong lamenting message.

2 – By Nicola Malkin. Fun, crazy and decorative!

3 – By Lulu Guinness. Cute and cool! Would like this over my dressing table mirror.

Although these designer stags are regrettably not within my price range, I’m getting all sorts of ideas on how to pimp my own Graham and Green staghead. And with a little donation to the homeless cause I can feel as if I’m participating in the initiative in a small way also. :-)

Eames DSW with numbers

I just have to mention these lovely beige DSW, spotted at Danish auction house Lauritz, as they are deadly trendy. I tried to buy some about week ago, but gave up when price rose too high. Too popular. Can’t keep a secret like this though!

These chairs were specially manufactured by Herman Miller for American soldiers stationed in Germany. Each chair has a unique number and since they were designed for outdoor use the seats each have five holes for rain water.

At the moment there are no active lots on these, but in recent auctions the hammer price has landed on approx. 4500 SEK | €500 | £440 | $720 | a chair, including buyer’s premium (on average; they have been sold in pairs, and sets of 4 and 6 chairs – smaller and more worn groups less pricey per piece). Coolness!

Update April 15th: You can right now find these chairs, in a slightly stone/greyish tone, at Blocket (i.e. Swedish equivalent of Craigslist). A March auction winner changed her mind.

Update April 19th: There are now two active lots at Lauritz; 6 stone greyish/rough ending at 27th, 6 nicer/beiger closing at May 2nd.

Update April 26th: Now there’s another bunch of them for sale at Blocket! The second regretful auction winner in two weeks (!) What happened. Did they think the chairs were nicer IRL, I mean they are actually quite scraped, worn and …grey? Hm. Let’s see how the April 27th auction goes-  those chairs have same kind of ‘unpolished’ condition like the regretted ones at Blocket….

Eclectic Auction Ahead

August 25th, a really cool auction is opening its display at Swedish auction house Bukowskis. It’s called Eclectic and presents a wide range of objects inspired by the decades around 1900, the golden era of great adventure and when the old world transformed into the new industrialism.

As my sample below shows, this auction contains a daring mix of old and new, mahogany and steel, handicrafts and industry. The border between the centuries is blurred and the line between what is considered beautiful and ugly is questioned. Because, this auction wants to inspire cross-border decor or might I say, out-of-the-box decor. Through the themes conservatory, industrial and adventure Bukowskis aims to capture the contemporary dualism and ruined romanticism as well as industrial exploration and progress.

Browse the full auction here. If you happened to fall in love with any of the pieces featured above and want to know how the estimation on how big the hole in your wallet will be, a link list of featured items can be found if you
