It is spring approaching summer and we see COLOURS. Striking bright and vibrant colours from All The Rainbow. Especially irresistible are the yellows – from the fresh sunshiny shade to the most poppy citrus hues.

…this pic was featured at the excellent new-to-me-blog Delight by Design. I found myself deeply engrossed in the elements of it. I can not single out one key feature – it’s spotless eclecticism again! Also, there might be something quirky in sight just in the corner (is it a rooster?). And it’s perfectly warm and cold. Above all: The confident feel this decor scheme just happened.

Spring 2011:s most interesting colour: Carrot

Hello and extremely welcome to trendey.com! Here’s me, Mia, sitting in my home office bringing you the bestest of interor decorating trends and tricks ;) Well some, like my mother, say it’s true :) Today’s topic is the most interesting though slightly hidden trend colour of spring 2011: Carrot. Let’s just say carrot, it’s the hues somewhere between pink coral and traditional orange. Somewhat yellowish pink-red. It’s an interesting new spark I’ve noticed lately, that goes extremely well with the sandy [new-white] base. I will use the sand and carrot combo myself in our bedroom so pics will be coming from that – but for now, an illustration of this too-hot-to-be-true spring colour:

Colour of the Year 2011 – Honeysuckle

For Year Colour of 2011 Pantone has chosen a reddish pink called Honeysuckle (18-2120). They say it’s a brave new colour for a brave new world. The 2010 colour of the year – turquoise – served as an escape for many, whereas the 2011 colour ‘emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor’. Honeysuckle is the colour that attracts hummingbirds to nectar. In home decor, the suggestion for 2011 is to add a lively flair with Honeysuckle patterned pillows, bedspreads, small appliances and tabletop accessories. Or to paint a wall in this reddish pink for a dynamic burst of energy. It is an appetite and conversation stimulant when used on the dining room walls. In the kitchen, it adds a fun touch on the table in placemats and other linens, colored glassware, candles and small appliances.

Trendy Yellow Decor Dots

Dutch trend forecaster Li Edelkoort can see a yellow wave rolling into our homes now in the 10′s. At the same time, a new all-over darker interior design trend is taking over (her paint colour choices can be viewed in this post). Yellow is by no means new as accent colour, but the trend oracle says this is the colour that will dominate now in the 15 years to come; yellow is the new pink. Here’s some trendy inspiration:
