Scandinavian & Retro Styles

Springtime Goodies

spring decor

Just a few spring fresh goodies I’ve bookmarked these last weeks. Above left gorgeous still life on retro drawer via solid frog, and right a flower bonanza via living etc. This pic below – via johanna’s vintage blog – represents, in my mind, stylish Swedish countryside living. A lovely mix.

Gorgeous Swedish Country Style

Posted on 2012/11/07 by Mia in boho, country, Dining/Living room, Frame Groupings, globetrotter style, Kitchen, scandinavian

Sometimes, or quite often really, I dream of a house. A nice big house with at least 6 rooms. Perferably near a lake or the sea and with lots of trees and garden life around it. I love old Swedish houses! And I think this kind of decor style fits them gorgeously well…Some walls painted in lovely hues and I’m home :)

White & Old Wood

Posted on 2012/10/04 by Mia in Art & Illustrations, fifties retro, Frame Groupings, parisian chic, scandinavian

I’m still deeply into the Stockholm styling compartment (owing to a project I’m involved in) and just wanted to share these beautiful pics I came across via a beautiful living. I maintain my opinion white is no colour at all = boring, but can not deny that all-white can serve very well as a backdrop for creativity through furniture & decor. Retro furniture – in that old, middle-brown wood colour – certainly gets a new life in an all-white setting.

Sthlm Styling Style

Posted on 2012/09/27 by Mia in Art & Illustrations, Dining/Living room, eclectic, Hallway, Numbers & Letters, scandinavian

Happy you liked the sthlm style post! Here’s another one!, an extraordinary fine example of the Stockholm style of styling. And actually, of a gorgeous Stockholm apartment in itself. 2 rooms & a kitchen, currently for sale @ estate agent reimersholme fastighetsmäkleri. First of all, it’s gorgeous in itself. A building from the 1910′s, in which the period details such as the tile stove (pic above) and the serving cabinet (middle pic below) are preserved. Also, it has the typical high ceilings (almost 3 metres) and beautiful bay windows. Stylingwise the key word is: sparse! Walls are painted Stockholm-white, all over, and the lovely wide-plank floors (in trendy pine wood!) are newly sanded and fresh. I think I’ll let the rest of the sparse styling speak for itself :) Must say though the Dali print is magnificent.

Three favourites (click to view enlarged). The pretty yet edgy kitchen area with the lovely vintage poster, the serving cabinet and the hallway/lovely floors, and thirdly a laid-back masculine style corner. There’s a bunch of more nice pics to look at all here.  No cut flowers, no fruits in a bowl, just a beautiful place.

Sthlm Style

Posted on 2012/09/26 by Mia in Dining/Living room, eclectic, Frame Groupings, globetrotter style, scandinavian

To me, this is somewhat typical (trendy) Stockholm style. The white backdrop, with some wood elements, and stylewise some distinct retro & industrial influences. And the globetrotter is there, in a poster and a throw that says New York, and an ethnic-patterned cushion. A creative vibe. Liking it! | pic via reimersholme fastighetsmäkleri |
