Notez s’il vous plait!

Posted on 2009/12/02 by Mia in eclectic, parisian chic

Personally, I loooove the French/Parisian Chic Eclectic Interior Style…Especially in combination with an industrial feeling or mixed with elements of the clean Scandinavian style. I have unanimously decided that my old pink unicycle (mon cher monocycle!) will be haning on our living room wall in the new place. Mm yeah, I will post a picture when it’s set! 5 days to keys now!

Fresh and Natural Spring 2010 by DAY Home

Posted on 2009/11/30 by Mia in SS 2010

Today, the Danish super-brand DAY (Day Birger et Mikkelsen) released press photos of their Spring 2010 home collection. The early photos look very promising! It feels healthy, fresh and natural: evocative of the sea and beaches, nature, forest…

Today’s Delicacy: Ros-Marie Wallpaper

Posted on 2009/11/28 by Mia in Wallpapers

ros-marie

Lisa Bengtsson’s Ma Fleur-collection for Your Wallpaper is taking floral wallpaper into a new dimension. The rose – Queen of the garden – has an interesting shape and colour. In Ros-Marie, designer Lisa Bengtsson has been inspired by this; the beauty of the rose, and by old bookmarks and her own thoughts and dreams.

Grey Rugs

Posted on 2009/11/27 by Mia in Rugs

It’s a bit of the metallic trend going on, but it’s also the clever fact that if you keep the floor subdued and neutral, furniture and other decor can sparkle. I’ve never seen a grey carpet being disturbing, quite the opposite: it gives a cozy and snug feeling and adds warmth to the floor. And it works well with almost any style. There are some really nice grey rugs on the market right now:

The warming manga rug series in wool I wrote about earlier (example top left on pic above) and the new Björk (‘Birch tree’) rug from Swedish Lena Bergström for Design House Stockholm (top right pics) are both cozy and desirable. In a sofa arrangement, I fancy round rugs. This 2 m dark grey-almost black one, silk shaggy, (bottom left) comes from TheHome. The company Pappelina is well known for their plastic rugs; bottom right is a metallic grey Svea.

To round off: some grey rug-inspiration in different interior styles.

The Blue 2010 – Room Inspiration

Posted on 2009/11/26 by Mia in SS 2010

There is no doubt the trendiest colour 2010 is blue. Blue is simply the new black! Here’s some inspirational photos, first from the London home of the excellent interior designer Abigail Ahern.

It is easy to spot that these chosen gray-blue hues have many matching-options. Other blues, beige/light brown,- white, copper, wood…it makes an elegant and friendly look.

…and not least, a great combination with attention-grabbing red and yellow (complementary colour of blue) details:

The book on international colour trends 2010 pointed out a variety of shades of blue along with the light airy Colour of the Year 2010. From airy and optimistic ‘lifting the spirit and lighting the darkness’ – to soulful teals and turquoises and rich, clear ultramarines. Personally I am particularly fond of spiritual and creative blue in a home office/study room, but blue is a colour that fits any room. Below are two dining room-examples: Pale blue crispy walls with white and crystal…a modern quirky look. And white furniture and accessories against a pale blue-greenish background and rustic floorboards.

Calming blue is of course great for bedrooms. Though, the shade and decor does not need to be sleepy. Below, a french country style bedroom with pink roses and turquoise details, – and a strong lively shade of blue together with green and gold in a Spanish inspired sunny bedroom.

“Sweden’s most beautiful home”

Posted on 2009/11/25 by Mia in scandinavian

478041_700x463

….is right now this one, accoring to votes @ Booli Inspiration. The company Booli aggregates real estate listings, and today they lauched a new website with “Sweden’s most beautiful homes”. The promoting goes “Maybe it’s time to furnish or renovate a little bit at home? Take the chance, let yourself be inspired. And by the way, best of all, if you really fancy a room … the home is for sale.”

I’m not sure whether estate agents will be perfectly happy with this (they already have a horn in hand to Booli), and for that matter: people have actually had their homes photograped in order to sell the place, not to participate in a “nicest home”- competition on the internet. But the idea isn’t too bad…! It’s Swedish! Ugh sooo Swedish! We vote and think, assess and evaluate…And lift our Scandinavian ideal to the skies. (Thank God there is no way to dislike a home, I don’t want people to see their rooms displayed with red minus-56 figures)

Get in there if you need insipration on Scandinavian interior style!

Hottest Xmas Decor: Reindeers

Posted on 2009/11/25 by Mia in Christmas!

This year, Rudolph is more popular than ever. He is coming, strong…and with a vengeance! It is logical in view of the strong current trend with various animal heads and antlers. And who does not like the bullied reindeer that gets to lights the way for Santa?! First out are Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph, “dressed in their finest festive clothes, so they are ready for Christmas Eve and the many Christmas celebrations they are going to.” $50 from Medusa Copenhagen:

A decorative reindeer that glitters, $11 from Åhlens…

…and a reindeer made of recycled rope, Merry Cord Reindeer, ca $70 from Anthropologie:

And lastly, reindeer napkins, $6, and a reindeer candle, bottom right, $12 from Danish Il Gusto.

I don’t know about you, but I will certainly invite some reindeers this year!
