Happy Midsummer!

Posted on 2012/06/21 by Mia in Bedroom, country, Flowers

| livet hemma |

The four-poster beds seem to be on the rise again! In a clean and undecorate-ish style with laidback drapes and creative decorations. This one in honour of the finest of Swedish traditions: Midsummer. If you’re not sure what to do this weekend, here’s an informative video :) I’m heading to the folkloreish province Dalarna to have my pickled herring & snaps and dance a bit around the midsummer pole. Have a nice Midsummer weekend!

I just can’t keep away, can I? :) Just a quick note to say thank god it’s Friday and wishing you a happy weekend with this comfy-sofa pic. Here’s where I’ll be tonight, watching movies (and Zlatan, of course). And thank you masses for your comments and messages – it’s so great to hear from you!

Inside Out

Posted on 2012/06/12 by Mia in Garden & Outdoors, SS 2012

I still think the best trick in the outdoors decor category is to bring the inside out. Vases, paintings, mirrors…

Pinkish For All

Posted on 2012/06/11 by Mia in boho, Collectables & Still Life, Dining/Living room, Flowers

I am really in a blogging spree, with 5 posts yesterday and still not done! Much suppressed decor inspiration let out after working with various projects quite intensively. When time lacks though, I usually buzz at bit at twitter or Instagram [frkmia] – so keep in touch!

It is time for some pinkish love.
I do not know of a more welcoming, comforting, cheerful or more lovely colour. Speaking of gender-specific decor in my last post, let me – with these gorgeous pics from the June/July issue of fab Lonny Magazine – prove a touch of pink is for everyone.

Flowers! # 1 in homeliness, whether fake or alive. Preferably a mix, in my opinion.
Pink with a key piece to break the scheme and make it more interesting, in this case an oriental rug.

Lastly, more floral splendour at its very best. Love the vases. All three pics via Lonny mag.

Masculine Interiors

Posted on 2012/06/11 by Mia in Globes, Home Office, other decor themes

I have received quite a few questions about male or masculine interiors. How To decorate for a man to feel at home. How to downplay the prettiness and the feminine vibe still keeping it beautiful. Being a believer in personal, gender-unspecific, what-ever-makes-YOU-happy-decor, I have no idea. Honestly. There’s no room for male and female decor in my world. BUT, there has been a bout more typical (stereotyped) masculine interiors lately. So I figure a little round of pics won’t hurt. And hey, just think of all the vintage suitcases and the industrial style. That’s in the masculine compartment isn’t it? The well-travelled globes? Hunted down animal heads? Mostly also the dark painted walls? Blame my (relatively) gender-equality-forward country for not knowing! Here’s a few pics the magazine editors said were masculine :)

…and if you want more, have a glance at Todd Romano’s and HEIR for some nice ones. Happy week!

Tape Measure Decor

Posted on 2012/06/10 by Mia in Other trendy details

I find these little trends swinging by very exciting and amusing. Some are more longlived – like the birds, owls, and numbers & letters – and some seem more random, like the arrows and the giant scissors. Fashion-forward, style-setting Danish brand House Doctor includes “tape measure napkins” in its summer 2012 collection. To the right, a framed napkin [via tomteboanna]

And this print idea has also been spotted elsewhere this season. Quite fun, right? I love it.
