Gorgeous Swedish Country Style

Posted on 2012/11/07 by Mia in boho, country, Dining/Living room, Frame Groupings, globetrotter style, Kitchen, scandinavian

Sometimes, or quite often really, I dream of a house. A nice big house with at least 6 rooms. Perferably near a lake or the sea and with lots of trees and garden life around it. I love old Swedish houses! And I think this kind of decor style fits them gorgeously well…Some walls painted in lovely hues and I’m home :)

Spring 2013 Home Decor [and Fashion] Trends

Posted on 2012/11/01 by Mia in boho, Clothes & Shoes, eclectic, globetrotter style, nature & urban farming, SS 2013

Don’t you think it’s time for some Spring 2013 trend spotting? I do! And here’s a first little round, guided by some fabulous SS 2013 catwalk ladies. Firstly, a sophisticated and cool copper/nature style.

According to Formex – one of my usual places to turn to when sniffing for trends – the Spring 2013 interior design is strongly influenced by nature. Shades of white, brown natural tones, wooden surfaces, rattan and other simple, natural materials set the foundation for the fresh new trend theme named ”Fresh”. Above photo from the excellent December 2012 issue of vogue living.

There are colours too – thankfully! This coming season with a new take on the pastel palette. Some soft pastels combined with brighter hues. Like this lovely combo of pink/purple, orange and soft blue (pic via sköna hem). Western chic (pic via hus & hem) is another touch I like. Wood & rattan against a dramatic black backdrop.

This is a hot and interesting colour, I’d say it’s unpolished spicy fudge. Acne fashion leads the way (with pic via bodie and fou). A great linen colour. Colourwise, the pic below left (via vtwonen) also represent a fresh taake on the pastels. Light green, almost pistache, together with grey (almost lilac). Lastly in this round, never underestimate the playful nerd. A great kid’s room decor DIY trick (pic via boligmagasinet) – just paint the hotscoth course on the floor! Creativity rules, still.

Have a lovely November!

thank godness for some quirkiness!

Just a quick note from a terribly busy Mia. Above could be The nicest real estate pic ever seen. As a photo of an apartment for sale – not a page in an interior design mag – it’s kind of groundbreaking. Great composition and gorgeous style! Homely, creative and top-trendey. Fantastic Frank is the phenomena to praise. Realizing I’m being starved of interior pics that truly inspires me, I need to share this treasure too, found in Vogue Living. There are some common style features in these two pics, and they undoubtedly represent something I yern to see more of!

Autumn Colour Boosts: Yellow & Red

Posted on 2012/10/07 by Mia in boho, Colour Boosts, country, Flowers, folklore, Hallway, Kitchen, Rugs

Right now – is the time to derive inspiration from nature’s vibrant colours and bring it inside. Soon enough the leaves are falling and along comes a cold (but hopefully snowy white) winter. A muted yellow (almost mustard) wall, decorated with a mix of old mirrors is a great idea I think. With some nice rugs as an extra warming element. Boosting of joy, warmth & energy! And why not go dramatic red? Just for a wall. That red wall is like a vitmain pill in the countryish kitchen, instantly lifting your spirits. | pics via hus & hem |

boho-ish bedrooms

Posted on 2012/10/05 by Mia in Bedlinen, Bedroom, boho, Chalkboard Paint, eclectic, Globes, Headboards

You think my last few posts are a bit lame? Suspecting I’ve moved over to the white side? No worries :) It was just a detour, very inspired by the city I live in. My firm opinion is, still, that the interior design world suffer from a lack of bohemian inspiration. Personal, homey, eclectic, cozy & quicky interiors. That is what Trendey primarily wants to share. Now, how about some gorgeous bedrooms?

A year or so ago, I had such a crush on headboards! Back in the days when Henen was blogging too, we talked quite a lot about it (just look at this post and feel the drool..) This particular headboard in the bottom pic, comes from the family love tree. These two bedrooms are very nicely decorated I think, with gorgeous colour schemes. Far from dull & strict white! Happy weekend!

White & Old Wood

Posted on 2012/10/04 by Mia in Art & Illustrations, fifties retro, Frame Groupings, parisian chic, scandinavian

I’m still deeply into the Stockholm styling compartment (owing to a project I’m involved in) and just wanted to share these beautiful pics I came across via a beautiful living. I maintain my opinion white is no colour at all = boring, but can not deny that all-white can serve very well as a backdrop for creativity through furniture & decor. Retro furniture – in that old, middle-brown wood colour – certainly gets a new life in an all-white setting.

Some Smart Details

Posted on 2012/09/27 by Mia in DIY Things!, industrial vintage, Kitchen, Table Decor

Just a quick post to share these two smart tricks I have kept in my vault :)

The best kitchen cabinets handles ever are the ones you made yourself! I did this with a drawer some time ago (here) and it’s really easy piecy (use a nice leather belt). No doubt it works wonderful in a kitchen! Loving this kitchen btw| the pic via nib | Secondly, it’s about washi tape. Seen around in many variations of use, but here’s the top trick in my opinion: Tape it around tealights! At almost no cost – great effect. | pic via trendenser | So, again, ’til next time – happy weekend!
