I’ve read a bunch of interiors/decor books lately, and need to say a few words of the possibly best one I have ever read: “Från loppis till salong” (approx. From Flea Market to Fine Salon) by Ida Magntorn. Ida Magntorn is a Swedish writer, stylist and photographer and here’s her blog.
This book is all about those odd old objects and furniture bought at flea markets for one simple reason: love at first sight! Though we aren’t sure where to have them or what to do with them… This books offers plenty of ideas and overall lovely decor inspiration. It’s severely trendy – intentionally or not – and actually full of surprises.
This idea took my breath away. A doll house in the lamp. A doll-house lamp! Best of all, it’s a really simple DIY. You just need some common tools, a leftover pickles-can and a lampholder. Make a hole in the cap for the lamp fitting, nail some tiny holes for ventilation and place anyhing inside! So sweet, and a variation of the very popular glass display dome.
In my opinion, this is the best decor book on the market right now. It’s a storybook for decor-creative adults. Extremely beautiful and useful, with ideas and tricks that will last forever. I’ll round up with a dream scenery of a summer house inside. Highly recommended reading – or just looking!
Update: Ida Magntorn is now a blogger at Elle Interiör.
