Country & Folklore Styles

Finest Xmas Style

Posted on 2012/11/09 by Mia in Christmas!, country, Dining/Living room, DIY Holiday Decor, eclectic, Wood+Metal

None of you thought the post on spring trends 2013 came too early so I’m sure you won’t mind some Xmas spirit already! Loving this pic above from toast. Simple but smashing Christmas decor.  The colours are marvellous, loving that blue! And would love to have that front door…

For some reason I’m attracted to this left pic above (unfortunately I’ve forgotten where I found it) Think it denotes to the magnificent idea of decorating an old barn. And it’s an expession of the wood, wood and wood trend!  The pic to the right (via lantliv) has been on almost every (Swedish) decor blog this week. It’s nice. Very lightly Christmassy, which is great considering it’s a day to remove it all too. Also, the prefect DIY tips, why not spray your jolliest Xmas message on a piece of furniture! (and paint it over by tjugondag Knut).

Lastly, again a reminder Christmas decor need not be a knockout. Just simple, cozy & warming. Have a lovely pre-Xmas time!

Gorgeous Swedish Country Style

Posted on 2012/11/07 by Mia in boho, country, Dining/Living room, Frame Groupings, globetrotter style, Kitchen, scandinavian

Sometimes, or quite often really, I dream of a house. A nice big house with at least 6 rooms. Perferably near a lake or the sea and with lots of trees and garden life around it. I love old Swedish houses! And I think this kind of decor style fits them gorgeously well…Some walls painted in lovely hues and I’m home :)

Autumn Colour Boosts: Yellow & Red

Posted on 2012/10/07 by Mia in boho, Colour Boosts, country, Flowers, folklore, Hallway, Kitchen, Rugs

Right now – is the time to derive inspiration from nature’s vibrant colours and bring it inside. Soon enough the leaves are falling and along comes a cold (but hopefully snowy white) winter. A muted yellow (almost mustard) wall, decorated with a mix of old mirrors is a great idea I think. With some nice rugs as an extra warming element. Boosting of joy, warmth & energy! And why not go dramatic red? Just for a wall. That red wall is like a vitmain pill in the countryish kitchen, instantly lifting your spirits. | pics via hus & hem |

Mixed Folk Tiles

Posted on 2012/09/13 by Mia in boho, eclectic, ethnic, folklore, globetrotter style, Wallpapers

Tonight I’m having lots of Hallelujah moments!  I’m finding treasures, one after one.
I can’t believe I’ve missed this wallpaper named Mixed Folk by Louise Body. It’s pure gorgeousness.

I’m a huge fan of Moroccan tiles and the folksy vibe of these just thousandfold my love.

A wallpaper with such a  nostalgic, charmig, warming and interesting look…!

Peace

White with apricot/pink, gold & copper. How’s this for a guest room?

So peaceful. Just enough warmth and edge to make it charming.

The most gorgeous pic in the October issue of one of my 2 mag faves: Elle Decoration UK.

just a room

Posted on 2012/09/04 by Mia in country, Dining/Living room, folklore, Frame Groupings, Mild Wall Colours

There’s really nothing overly special about this room (via estate agent esny). Yet it’s very nicely decorated I think. Or maybe undecorated, i.e. not decorated by the book but by heart. I love the little corner on the right hand side. The paintings above and around the door opening. The bushy plant in a bucket. It can’t really be defined into a style; closest would probably be country/folklore in a city flat. Anyway, I love the vibe.
