Fabulous Bar Style

Me and Henen had a refreshment break at this incredible pub in Upper Street, Islington. It’s called the King’s Head and is world renowned for its music and its theatre that is located in the back room behind the bar.

I love the eclectic and theatre-ish athmosphere! So homey and inspirational. The wall colours, the dark wooden floorboards, the stage lights, the velvet stools…. and the walls covered with photos and posters of the theatre’s many productions (it has enjoyed numerous transfers to the West End and Broadway). And of course the fresh flowers on each table. And the beer was excellent too!

From Italy with Love: Mild Pastels

I am now back from my stay in Italy, quick-stopping at home before further travel to (even) colder latitudes in northern Sweden! The pretty seaside village we stayed in had those winding cobbled streets with those charmig pastel coloured houses that look just like a dream. Pastels in home decor is always rediscovered and revived in Springtime, like a fresh sunny greeting. But mild softish pastels, I like all year round. When it’s not too sweet, and preferably combined with rawer materials and well, unpolished. So this I bring back home, summer’s last gasp!

Vintage Neon Signs

We’re back from a warm week in the Canaries! If anything, the good old Playa del Ingles – destino turístico popular para los suecos en los años 1980-90 – has a vintage feeling to it. And vintage signs are soo trendey! E.g. in a boho style decor, in country rustic style or – in my fave – a circusy eclectic French interior style. Especially I fancy old neon signs. I bet there are a few to be found @ Etsy or elsewhere 2hand, but coolest would be to pick one up from the Neon Sign Graveyard in Las Vegas! Perfectly bleached by the sun, authentic, a bit of history swept away thou brought to new life. Vintage neon signs are a great assessory. Only puzzle is they are often very large. Neon art instead of modern art above the sofa?
