Oh my dear, isn’t this the lovliest doll house ever? Can’t understand why I didn’t enjoy doll houses when I was a kid, now I feel I could play with one daily! Found via the blog Dos Family; it belongs to artist Fia Igelström..

Which Stockholm Style Do You Prefer?

We’ve featured some hot Stockholm apartments lately and it’s now time for this weekends poll! Question is: which of these trendy styles do You prefer? White or boho? The Stockholm White Style needs no further introduction I think, one extremely well-represented almost iconic example is the Rapace’s apartment. Scandinavian all-white with an (industrial) edge. Alongside, we have the Stockholm Bohemian Style, of which this apartment, and this, are eminent examples. Two main characteristics are the bold colour choices ( dark painted walls) and a personal mix of things, often vintage finds, and a retro-touch.

Sunday Evening Update: Wow, that’s an interesting result! 55 votes: 29 for boho, 26 for white. Even Steven! Trendey readers are split between favouring the Scandinavian white edgy style and the darker bohemian.Or, you fancy them both and blind picked :) Either way, this shows both white Scandi and boho-styles are of interest to you. And that’s great, because we like both styles.

Is IKEA’s latest ad genius or just plain peculiar?

Did you spot the news about IKEA’s latest UK ad yesterday? If not, you’ve got to take a look at the video below! IKEA has conducted an experiment which consists in releasing a hundred cats inside the Wembley (London) superstore at night just to see what they get up to… The idea of the experiment is to find out which furniture made the cats happy (ehh..hrrmm….) and to use the footage in the latest UK ad campaign (read more here at The Guardian). The finished ad premiers tomorrow on ITV1 during X Factor so if you’re UK based have a look and see what you think! Has IKEA lost the plot or not? Have your say in this weekend’s poll!

Tricky Question for the Wknd: What Style Is This?

Henen just sent me this picture, from Marie Claire Maison. You know she’s fully occupied right now preparing for moving into the new house. What is this, she said. My dear, no idea I said :p We came up with lots of suggestions…! Is it this, that, a bit of each. We agreed we think we like it. Somehow. But as for the definition, we decided to ask the audience. Let’s hear your opinions on this interior style!

Update: It is now Sunday night and this weekend’s poll is closing. We can conclude that the jury’s verdict, i.e. trendey reader’s opinion, is:

An eclectic style (48 %) that can be defined as global jungle arty fart (35 %). Hah, good choices! Only very few of you had no idea or thought it was just plain ugly or, for that matter, an amazing style vision from the future…In the compartment other, we have the suggestion vintage modern style (although with an uncommonly strong pink). Maska Knitwear

By pure chance I stumbled across the knitwear online-shop Maska. It may actually have been through the blog finelittleday. The knitted cardigans that met my gaze looked so nice, well-made and high quality that I ordered one immediately! “Mirja”, below. A light-weight cardigan with eyelet pattern in Italian extra combed wool. It was as nice as I imagined. Very soft and a well-cut style. Fine as snuff!

I haven’t found the story behind Maska, so I can’t tell you taht…but I believe the shop is brand new. It’s created by knitwear enthusiast Maria Svensson and Lisa Leierth, based in Gothenburg, Sweden and they sell exclusively online with free deliveries worldwide. They have a blog and yes, almost forgot!, maska means “knitted stitch” in Swedish.

The DIY-Friendly Denim Trend Y10

Now, let’s start off with the trend 2010 talk with denim. Jeans/denim is ALWAYS in trend, but with variations. Spring 2010 runways showed a a relaxed, worn and bitwise patched style. Below’s Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, D&G, Chloe and Louis Vuitton.

How does this fresh denim style this translate into the home decor part? Well, easier than anything! Who does not hold a bunch of old jeans? Too small, too large, too worn, out of style? I have loads, enough for a fine bunch of pillowcases, lampshades, and even a curtain length. This season’s denim style is perfect for DIY. Make your own denim pieces and mix with brown leather furniture, beautiful lace or some fluffy or sleek material. Or combine denim with something plaid patterned. I think the denim-curtain idea isn’t too bad; with the nicest part of a pair of suspenders or a piece of a belt as curtain tiebacks – It’s great fun to translate clothing into interiors!

Never before has interior design and (clothings) fashion been such close friends. Home decor has always been affected by general trends, mirrored fashion a bit afterwards and partly led its own course – but today the two parts flow in parallel. They are intertwined! An (almost too) obvious sign of the interaction has been the growing number of collaborations between fashion and interior design; with fashion companies going ‘home’. When it comes to fashion-fitting collaborations Boomerang (bottom) and Diesel (the two top pics) are two brands with nice denim or denim-looking home items in their current collections.

Personally, I think the ‘fashion fusion’ is both interesting and enriching. Ideas on clothes outfits and room decor: many elements coincide. Let ‘em! Denim your house :)

Facebook HQ Interior Design

Ever wondered what it looks like where all those Facebook employees are gathered? Is it like a blue building where each have their own little white/pale-blue room with exactly the same folders in the shelves? I just stumbled across the looks of Facebook’s headquarters. And it looks really nice, not at all as streamlined and boxy as the Facebook I know. The interior design company Studio O+A designed the new (it was brand new in July) offices for Facebook in California. It’s a 150,000-square-foot space that prevoiusly housed a laboratory. The design goal was to maintain the history and raw aesthetic of the building and create a fun dynamic, appropriate for the companyâ€™s youthful staff. Many walls and spaces are left unfinished – like Facebook itself, employees are encouraged to write on the walls, add artwork, and rearrange the furniture. So, the office can and will evolve continuously, and it was arranged with numerous “neighborhoods”; a DJ area, lounges, and impromptu work spaces. Here’s a few pics, more can be found @ Studio O+A.

Speaking of Creative Flow, might this be a creativity-stimulating environment for the Facebook staff?
