Pale & Pretty Pastels

One of my favourite themes this season is the pale/soiled/dirty pastels. I.e. the main home decor trend this spring & summer, according to Formex. Pale pink & copper are best friends. If anything, these colour schemes are pretty. I’ll let this round speak for itself…

A trendy new collection: IKEA PS 2012

Inspired by Henen’s comeback, and exciting new product releases, I must say a few words on the new IKEA PS collection. I guess you’ve seen these pics around quite a lot lately, but in my opinion it’s all worth the buzz. I’m impressed! Great styling too, let’s begin with my fav pic:

In this seventh PS [post scriptum] collection, IKEA derived inspiration from its own archives. The 46 new products are inspired by old catalogue images, and the design is updated with a 2012 twist and durable materials. Totally in trend! This last year retro styles, 50′s to 70′s leading way, has been almost overwhelming. But it’s really cool of IKEA to do this I think. Looking at the past is the way forward. And glancing through old IKEA catalogues is indeed a pleasure, just look at the 1965 edition here

This chest of drawers, made of fast-growing pine, is a favourite of mine. Really easy to personalize – a gorgeous base. Won’t fit into our home right now, but next house!

Here’s the ballet-dressed lamp again (also on top pic). Funny thing! Great to mix into a rough/industrial or of course any style (as long as it’s not allover rosy romantic or shabby chic)). The chair is kind of cool too. I guess the yellow antlers and the owl aren’t part of the collection, but who knows, I like the direction it all is taking..

Another new lamp looking good. Possibly a renewal is ahead in the bedding section? That would be nice, IKEA can not be blamed for being fashion-forward on that note. Lastly, some nice new vases.

IKEA PS 2012 will be available from May 2012. Now let’s hope the IKEA stores will be updated styling-wise accordingly. A large PS section, restyled every month, would certainly be the icing on this cake!

Promising new home ware from FCUK!

Joining the likes of Zara and H&M, fashion brand French Connection has now launched their own Home Collection. The collection was unveiled last week and is looking full of promise, even though it’s still a bit thin.

I really like the relaxed and rustic vibe and the natural and calm colour palette in these shots.

Items look good quality, comfy and bang on trend. I love the industrial table lamp and the chunky knit and driftwood stools. Some of the bedding and some candle holders look pretty tempting too… Am looking forward to checking them out in store – am betting there’ll be a purchase or two!

Spring Candy!

Hola! Long time no see…Intensive work is what I’ve been up to, followed by a likewise intense & sunny vacation in the Canaries. Now here’s some springy candy for your eyes! Firstly. a lovely bedside from the beautiful blog krickelin (a new favourite):

Next, a very very nicely set table! Pure spring gorgeousness. From sweet paul magazine, via fab blog bright bazaar:

Colours, colours, colours! The top trend this spring. How I’d love to have a hallway like this, with doors painted in various gorgeous shades…(from marie claire maison, april issue):

Or, another great-impact trick, to paint both the walls and the floors in versions of one nice colour (via residence magazine):

Funky style. I love the turquoise + blonde wood combo, and the darker green elements. Lastly, another spring fresh bedside (from marie claire maison) Lovely bedlinen & colour scheme:

With sunny March greetings!

grey walls & lovely warmth

Gr e y is certainly one of the hottest wall colours now that white is increasingly set aside in favor of more interesting options. As grey often is a bit cold, I love when it’s combined with warm purples, reds and pinks. And brown leather & woods. Here’s some great examples! Oh and I like the frame hanging to the left – a fun alternative to the gallery style.

There’s some exciting things going on at the Trendey headquarters right now! A stylist just vistited and tomorrow photo shoots will take place in my little abode. Stay tuned :)
