“I like it best at home. In my quiet little corner. Where the world´s conflicts wont reach. Where I gain new strength.”

In the meantime, while Trendey sisters focus on their regular careers & professions, we have the greatest blog tips for you: Dos family. As always, you might already know all about it, but if not: this is a blog by decorator (slash designer, columnist, TV-presenter, etc) Isabelle Halling McAllister and photographer Jenny Brandt (who also has the sammy rose blog + shop) The lovely pics above are shot by Jenny at Isabelle’s. I think the black wall display is fabulous! And there’s loads of more inspiration on playful and charming kids’ rooms (like the one right) on their site. It’s undoable (and unnecessary) to define their interior style tastes, but I’d summarize it Happy Scandinavian :) Clearly creative, retro, personal, arty, homey, free-spirited and fun. Below is a really nice example of a ‘Dos Visit’, photographer Jenny Brandt visits Lisa Grue’s home. More of this lovely retro charm can be found here.
I think these two rooms below are very interesting! The decor is simple, yet the Josef Frank wallpaper looks nicer than ever together with the retro/vintage caramel sofa. The bathroom could have been downright boring but the pink pastel door (and a photo display or something hidden behind it) and the orange rug on the grey patterned floor is ‘all it takes’ to give the place some interesting character.

Now, lastly, I will join DosFamily’s upcoming blog battle – no idea what it will be about, but I will take the challenge :)
Discuss! Now real estate agent Fantastic Frank and his crew made me smile again. I adore their creativity! Words can not describe how welcome and needed their approach is, in a Stockholm housing market at full uniformity. Here’s for you lovers of Scandinavian white. In this studio flat (1 room + kitchen) – currently for sale – champagne, a sidelined crystal chandelier, intersected cottage cheese and a kiwi in the bathroom serves as symbols for the typical Stockholm girl who focuses equally much on her career and health, and the fresh brightness at home.
A nice kitchen made ever nicer and certianly more interesting by means of some simple yet imaginative moves. I really like the frame grouping above the kitchen table. And the beautiful wide plank flooring really boosts this all-whiteness.
Here’s the fruits I talked about. Swedish ladies eat lots of fruits. And cottage cheese that’s loaded with protein.
Lastly, before she leaves she always takes a good look in the mirror. More pics of her city life here.
There is a male counterpart to this gal too – here’s a duplex flat for sale showing the life of a rather busy but bon vivant Stockholm yuppie. He is always happy and the sun shines down on him when he’s having breakfast.
Discuss! This home is featured in Danish Bolig Magasinet headed “Luxury home on a budget”; through a thorough search for 2nd hand stuff you can surround yourself with great things in spite of a relatively modest budget. Danes, Danes, Danes….they are so creative and fun! A style that is very much Scandinavian, but far far from rigid white, bright fresh and sterile.
The residents themselves say it like this:
Discuss! It’s all about mixing styles, to buy a few things of good quality, to know your local charity shop and plow through ‘Den Blå Avis’ [the Danish equivalent to Craigslist/Blocket] In addition, online auctions such as Lauritz.com and Qxl.dk are great places to make good purchases. There’s really no reason to buy everything new.
Today I’m loving the light shining through and colour pops.

Discuss! If they were Stockholmers. These are pics from an apartment currently for sale @ Fantastic Frank. We’ve mentioned this exciting new real estate agent before; unlike most other estate agents, Fantastic Frank put great effort and care into showing the character of each abode. The idea is to reach those few potential buyers who love the place, rather than the very many who only like it. By extension, this strategy gives the Stockholm housing market a much needed injection of creativity, diversity and beauty. This time, Fantastic Frank tells a story…
