Soft Luxurious Black

I have one more post on my mind in this colour spree. And this one will lead us back to some serious trend talk. Have you noticed the emerge of black furniture recently? These are lovely news from IKEA and Graham & Green.

Black conveys elegance and sophistication. It denotes strength and authority and it’s also a colour associated with death and mystery… Black gives the feeling of perspective and depth, and contrasts very well with bright colours. As a background it gives a sharpness and clarity that is hard to beat. As a wall paint though, it is seldom used at home. Or hasn’t been yet really – just wait to see what this autumn has to say about it. There are numerous shades of black, whereof the softer toned ones, like dark charcoal grey, and black velvet and suede are particularily interesting.

What colours suit black? I guess there are as many opinions on that matter as there are personal styles. No rules. Personally I am very fond of the combination soft black-grey, powder-rose and crystal/glass. And a touch of gold or copper. I’d put some sharpening black items, like the sofa above, into this scheme to enhance the soft luxurios athmosphere.

The Big Blue

I never get tired of blue. It’s my favourite colour. It is a creative colour (great for home office/study), a soothing colour (great for bedroom); an easily matched, versatile, cold colour. I picked these three lovely blue rooms for today’s colour inspiration.

Colour, colour, colour..

…in home decor and especially on walls, in definitely marching in. I almost dare promise colour explosion will be one of the major trend themes for AW 2010. French Marie Claire Maison gives many inspiring examples. Strong, cheerful and energizing colours in kitchens…

…and pastels with extra spice in bedrooms as well as living rooms.

A Touch of Boudoir

There is no secret by now that I am crazy for French-style carved headboards. I do not have one in my possession, but I yearn for them. Big time. However, I’m planning to introduce a little boudoir feel to the bedroom now that the new storage furniture is in place. Our bedroom, which is not altogether Stockholm White with naked windows – it actually has both dark wood furniture, an Indian style colourful bedspread, heavy red velvet drapes and lace. To this, I am thinking of adding a touch of ladies’room, where I can have a petite rest, relax the taut bustier and powder my nose wearing negligee …;) I actually did not find so many nice boudoir photos, they were all too white, but a string of the sensation can be found in these:

I will start at IKEA. Their Edland dressing table has been on my mind since I first saw it. Now I know how to use it. And another very nice IKEA product I stumpled upon is the Årstid lamp. It speaks Faded Glamour. Ok, here we go! Story to be continued :)

Headboard Love

Out of the frying pan, into the fire. Again. I just can’t get enough of these carved headboards. They haunt me. Or I hunt them :) Feminine, Romantic, Parisian Chic…the more French, the better.

Notez s’il vous plait!

Personally, I loooove the French/Parisian Chic Eclectic Interior Style…Especially in combination with an industrial feeling or mixed with elements of the clean Scandinavian style. I have unanimously decided that my old pink unicycle (mon cher monocycle!) will be haning on our living room wall in the new place. Mm yeah, I will post a picture when it’s set! 5 days to keys now!
