the good ol’ coat rack

|pic: pia ulin for elle interiör |

There is quite a lot in this picture that is interesting. The ottoman, the sofa, the person (!), the antlers….but what I think of right now is the coat rack. Here and there it pops up (still, I believe the peak was in 2008), there’s even wall decals of a coat racks! I would count myself a fan of the coat rack, it’s a nice and functional piece of decor. It has a distinct decorative value. Trees have been popular, and tripods, but I particularly fancy the simple ones. Like this green one from UO.

And oh, here is a nice one too.

Clothes As Home Decor

It has undoubtedly become increasingly popular to have clothes on open display at home. IKEA’s clothes rack RIGGA and its likes are big sellers. More and more often you can also find a single or a few clothes items hanging in a room as decoration. Almost always it is beautiful dresses and tulle skirts hanging from a rack in the ceiling or placed out as small works of art. Below are pics from two recent Swedish home tours, with Elsa Fischer and Elsa Billgren respectively.

The very talented photographer Pia Ulin also has a photo of this kind in her portfolio..

Apparently, mainly women’s clothes are honored decorative value. In the field of menswear it is only hats that has appeared to a greater extent.

Light Pistachio Green

The colour of the pistachio nut, a pale but strong yellow-green, adds interest and is very useful in home decor. This is especially the case with the trendy light shades of pistachio. From being matched with in particular browns (e.g. nougat) and combined with lighter woods such as birch and pine, not to mention its pastel neighbours, pistachio has now changed friends to gold, copper, brick and steel. Hot acquaintances are also caramel, pinks or a touch of some kind of orange. In the hallway below, the structured pistachio-coloured wallpaper and the monochrome dresser get sparkle and harmony from the pink wase, the sofa chairs, a brick wall and the gold and copper details.

In bathrooms and in kitchens, light pistachio is always fresh. Below, in a combo with white, steel, green plants and a touch of orange.
