Henen’s Hallway

Welcome to my place! And where better to start off a housetour than in the hallway? My favourite items here are the quirky clown bust and the vintage-find mirror.

Another view. I really enjoy the colour infusion from the purple wood floor (painted in Farrow and Ball’s “Pelt”) and the roughness of the diy branch chandelier – which casts great shadows in the nighttime.  Still a lot of unfulfilled decoration potential and empty walls around, but slowly and surely I aim to fill them up!

Finally, a glimpse below of the living room… The glam flowers in the Chinese urn are from my husband on our wedding anniversary last week – regrettably not a permanent fixture in this room! :) That’s it for now, but the housetour will continue shortly. Next up, dining room and kitchen!

Things I Fancy Right Now

I adore this DIY:ed art in Jimmie Carlsson’s hallway! He has covered an old door in a bed sheet, painted it white and written all over it lyrics from the lovely Swedish song Öppna landskap. Cool. Pic via the blog komma hem.

I think this wallpaper is absolutely gorgeous. Almost like those granny-ish old wallpapers I went on about some months ago. If only I could find a place (or thing) to put in on, I’d get a roll rightaway, via anthropologie.

Dunno why I’ve started to fancy black cats all of a sudden! Might have something to do with Henen’s cat Blackie…A lovely print – I especially like the combination of colours and the eyes – from olive dear on Etsy.

Golden cutlery! How nice isn’t that! These are the best looking ones I’ve seen around, from Italian Seletti. And I really really like this spinwash tableware from Zara Home. I bought some wonderful soup/pasta plates in both this light greenish colour and in grey last week. In London that is, now Zara Home could you p-p-please open a store in Stockholm! Happy weekend everyone! Now I’ll prepare for Trendey’s Birthday party tomorrow :) See you.

Flowers!

Like nothing else, flowers represent summer.

What would this white-tiled kitchen be without the flowers?

Instant loveliness.

The most effective home decor feature of them all.

Sunny Inside

Wow, Friday already! This week has been so quick. And forecast says the Stockholm weekend will be sunny and warm. Happy times! Today, I’m liking this…

This style appeals to me. The place is featured in SvD Bostad and it’s Scandinavian yet it could have been anywhere in the world. Lively, homely and harmonious.

I also love this hallway below (same source, different house) maybe mostly because it reminds me of my grandparent’s summer house. There’s a Swedish saying that goes “Sun outside, sun inside -  sun in heart, sun in mind” and this room is the epitome of the sun’s effects. I feel I want to run down to the lake that probably is somewhere outside the window. Later I’ll jump into the folklore-rubber boots and go pick some delicious berries :)

A world of beige

…is what I’m in, choosing hues and preparing new decor – and I like it more and more.

It’s the perfect backdrop for a French-Eclectic-Romantic-Boho-vibe…

the good ol’ coat rack

|pic: pia ulin for elle interiör |

There is quite a lot in this picture that is interesting. The ottoman, the sofa, the person (!), the antlers….but what I think of right now is the coat rack. Here and there it pops up (still, I believe the peak was in 2008), there’s even wall decals of a coat racks! I would count myself a fan of the coat rack, it’s a nice and functional piece of decor. It has a distinct decorative value. Trees have been popular, and tripods, but I particularly fancy the simple ones. Like this green one from UO.

And oh, here is a nice one too.
