chest of drawers w leather handles

Just a quick note to show my redesigned IKEA drawer. Unfortunately it’s no longer in their range, and I have no before-photo, but I found a pic here: It used to be black-brown and had black metal handles. I painted it ‘tie white’ and the new handles are made of the following: A vintage leather belt ($5 cost) cut into pieces and 14 new screws ($2). I used the old bolts and the pre-drilled holes.

More DIY to follow. Happy week!

August Mix

Hello dear all and happy August! The 20th this month is Trendey’s 2nd birthday! I have a plan for this day… and it involves me going to Henen’s house in London, bringing my camera :) I really really like August. The only drawback is that summer is coming to an end. A fact that makes me enjoy the last weeks of delightfully balmy evenings even more. These are some home decor stuff & scenes I love right now.

Make your own unique storage installation

Step 1:  Collect old, found, new or forgotten boxes, crates or drawers in a glorious mix of colours and materials (perhaps some wallpaper in the bottom of a box or two?)

Step 2: Arrange in a creative pile and gather together with a colourful cord as in the pictures below (you could also nail boxes to eachother for extra stability).

Step 3: Hey presto! You will now have a really cool and artful storage installation of your very own making! :-)

I’m scavenging around for boxes at the moment because I want to make something like this. I haven’t got enough yet though (I only have one box so far!) I’d like to use really old and interesting-looking boxes, so I’ll have to do some searching. And perhaps I’ll include a wine rack also…hmm…or an old radio or safe? Well, shall have to see what I can find! :-)

Also take a look at these rather amazing creations by designer Tejo Remy for inspiration…

How to Make Use of Wallpaper Samples

wallpapersamples

There are soo many lovely wallpapers around these days! Today some wallpaper samples I’ve ordered arrived, and it got me thinking…how can they be of best use?

So far, my ideas are as follows: I will frame 1 piece. One of them I fancy so much I might order one more sample and get going on my old desk (as in example 2 below, from Sköna hem). Idea 3, to dress an old flower pot in a beautiful sample, is appealing as well. And maybe, 4, an old shoe box can be transformed into a decorative storage box. So What’Ya think?! I’ll get back on the results! =)
