DecorMaison recently released a new wallpaper collection called WallKotyr. It is inspired by the designer’s drawing table, the runways of the fashion houses and Parisian Haute Couture. Patterns are resembling stuff like bubbling champagne and the classic pinstriped.
Personally, I like the pinkish colour above. Especially in combination with black fabrics. Next, feeling is captured of a modern dressed-up gentleman. (more…)

Just a quick post to show you we are still alive in our resettlement-chaos:

The wallpaper London by Timorous Beasties.

The old French Toile or Toile de Jouy patterns may feel a bit outdated. Though outdated is the last thing one would say about the Toile collection from Timorous Beasties! It’s very updated, very urban, very much a sign of the times. The London Toile was designed from a love of London and a love of the old toile’s. Timorous Beasties have not actually changed much in the Toile concept – some imagery in the original Toiles were sinister – but they have updated the references from the contemporary urban. Built-in, almost hidden at a first glance, are urban social-realistic scenes of London. Crime, loneliness, homelessness and robbery.
The London toile is the second Toile that Timorous Beasties have produced, the first was the Glasgow Toile (2004). It has reference to images of Glasgow; drug abuse, homeless people and prostitution has been framed in the context of some of Glasgow’s most famous architectural landmarks and public spaces. Provocative yes, but who said design shouldn’t explore social and political issues? Indeed, Timorous Beasties have made the most interesting fabric and wallpaper pattern in our times.

Lisa Bengtsson’s Ma Fleur-collection for Your Wallpaper is taking flower wallpaper into a new dimension. The rose – the queen of the garden – has an interesting shape and colour. In Ros-Marie, designer Lisa Bengtsson has been inspired by the beauty of the rose, old bookmarks and her own thoughts and dreams.

Following our purchase of a pale red/pinkish/’raspberry + milk’ hued velvet vintage sofa yesterday evening, I started researching the field of pinkish and cranberry hued wallpapers. The supply in this colour range isn’t great, but there are some bites. I am not a regular Laura Ashley customer, but I find these wallpapers below, named Tatton, Isadore and Kimono, very appealing. Glamorous and stylish, yet cool. I will go and check if they have samples here at the Stockholm store, if not I might have to go to London! Yay…

Name a Swede that isn’t proud of the fresh and oh soo creative designer Lisa Bengtsson. She left Berghs School of Communication in 2007 with a graduation project (the wallpaper above) making future career come self-evident. The wallpaper is named Familjen (The Family) and has a pattern of frames. It wants to tell a story about how we live and frame our lives. You can decorate it with photos of loved ones, you can put knobs on the wall that you hang things on, you can do anything that expresses your story, or you can just leave the design as it is. A roll (length 10m, width 0,53m) has a pricetag of approx £70 (795 SEK). Also keep your eyes out for the Special Edition Gold version of the wallpaper.

I just love this poster “Drottningen von Savannen”. I do not have one in my possesion yet, but it’s on it’s waaay! It will be hangning in my study room. Soo cool, no explanation needed =) Well, maybe one thing: the ornate, guilded frame is printed on the poster as well! Price approx. £17.

Wait, there are more lovely things. The fabric of this cushion to the left is named “Sir Harald”. Harald is Lisa Bengtsson’s great grandfather. Next to that super-trendey fabric, a piece of Peacock cup & plate designed for Indiska (and yes, there seems to be birdcages painted on it!). A list of Lisa Bengtsson retailers can be found here. And btw, here’s a short interview with Lisa Bengtsson, from the Formex fair.

There are soo many lovely wallpapers around these days! Today some wallpaper samples I’ve ordered arrived, and it got me thinking…how can they be of best use?
So far, my ideas are as follows: I will frame 1 piece. One of them I fancy so much I might order one more sample and get going on my old desk (as in example 2 below, from Sköna hem). Idea 3, to dress an old flower pot in a beautiful sample, is appealing as well. And maybe, 4, an old shoe box can be transformed into a decorative storage box. So What’Ya think?! I’ll get back on the results! =)

I just read about plaid wallpaper over at Apartment Therapy – apparently it is currently in vogue. I am very fond of plaid patterned rugs, especially the newcomer Alice by Pappelina, but will plaid make it on walls?
Here’s two examples of a style I might consider, to the left on pic is Rut by Sandberg, and to the right Knitted plaid from Creative Wallcovering. A light/pale, preferably blueish plaid wallpaper might actually look absolutely fabulous on a kitchen wall, in a living room or maybe in a hallway.

I think my favourite colour is blue. If I had to pick only one that’s what I’d take – the colour of the ocean and the sky. In a living room, I’d mix it with white and misc. brown/wooden colours and leather. This inspiration photo from HousetoHome reflect my ideas for a comfy and calming yet interesting atmosphere.
But why not be a bit braver and let the blues swing on a wall or two?
Here’s a collection of 9 stylish blueish wallpapers from Anna French, Cole & Son, Trove, Sanderson Interiors, Nina Campbell and Lim & Handtryck. Take a deep blue breath and enjoy:
