I find these images fun and inspiring. What I like best is the yellow/deep pink colour combo and the granny-esque lampshades (I so would like a bedside reading lamp like the pink one! :)) However, while I would love to stay in a boutique hotel or visit a friend’s home which is decorated like this, I don’t think I would like to copy this interior design style wholesale myself. Mostly because I want more modern design classics in the mix and am not overly keen on quite such colourful walls, but also because I know I would struggle to get away with it as my husband would absolutely hate this style ;D

In the Department of Chandeliers, colourful, pearl-based and not least the gypsy-style versions have become increasingly popular. This turquiose empire chandelier below was featured in House Beautiful.

Another recent boom is copper. This over-sized copper bowl of a lamp was featured in Italian Marie Claire.

Have you got into this trouble yet? A neat chandelier with a…. clumsy bulb… giving a cold white light? I note the problem scary often these days. Pic above, in a Spanish restaurant. In jurisdictions all over the world The Light Bulb as we know it, is phased out and eventually being banned. The aim – energy-efficiency – is of course good, but is the world getting both colder and uglier? Nah, I haven’t come across any yet, but sure you can feel safe designers are in full work making beautiful and permitted light bulbs. Can’t you? Ca..? Edison, world needs you and your ideas on how to reinvent and re-design an environmentally responsible, warm, non-tubey or spiral, classy fresh light bulb.

So are the tripods really that great? Well, I am not completely convinced. I think they are nice enough – I particularly like the more industrial looking examples and those that look a bit like spotlights from some old Hollywood movie set – but I feel that they are just a bit OVERLY trendy just now and that makes me mulish. I’m not getting one until they go out of fashion. So there!
