…the mighty jungle. This style – via Casaviva India – appeals to me. I wouldn’t copycat it, no, but the happy yellow walls and the jungly vibe from plants and animal patterns is so fresh, eclectic and absolutely lovely.

My feelings are very warm for typical Stockholm beauties like these. With the wide plank flooring, the tile stove and the generous ceiling height creating such wonderful sense of space. Decorating a home under conditions like these is a sheer delight. trendey was born on August 20th in the year 2009. At this time both me and my big sister Henen were in the process of finding new homes; me a turn of the century apt in Stockholm, Henen a period house in London. Because of this, the interior design interest on both sides saw a huge upswing. We frequently sent each other emails with interior design ideas. Just as blog posts actually. Uploading them to this site was a mere simplification. Now 2 years of blogging have past – a milestone – and it’s been an incredibly stimulating and creatively inspiring time. Above all, I’ve appreciated being part of the blogosphere, talking to you guys! You’re the best and what makes it worthwhile. Hurray to all interior-geeks! Henen wrote her latest post in December of 2010 (from then she has been busy renovating her house) and me alone has been running the show since then. Now what could be a better b-Day gift to Trendey than a house tour at Henen’s? Stay tuned and it will soon be posted! Lovely photos are loaded and guess what: Henen is back! Good for me ’cause I need to totally focus on finish my doctoral thesis this Autumn. I think this wallpaper is absolutely gorgeous. Almost like those granny-ish old wallpapers I went on about some months ago. If only I could find a place (or thing) to put in on, I’d get a roll rightaway, via anthropologie.

Dunno why I’ve started to fancy black cats all of a sudden! Might have something to do with Henen’s cat Blackie…A lovely print – I especially like the combination of colours and the eyes – from olive dear on Etsy.

Golden cutlery! How nice isn’t that! These are the best looking ones I’ve seen around, from Italian Seletti. And I really really like this spinwash tableware from Zara Home. I bought some wonderful soup/pasta plates in both this light greenish colour and in grey last week. In London that is, now Zara Home could you p-p-please open a store in Stockholm! Wall displays and frame grouping is definitely one of the most interesting home decor features imho. Like nothing else and it can give life, meaning and personality to a home. And it can be done in zillions of ways. Furthermore, it don’t have to cost much, well in terms of creativity but not in terms of money. So is Mrs James’ passion to create beauty from nothing. A crucial element in this book is also her statement that “cold minimalism has its place, but not at my place”. (couldn’t agree more :)) This is my favourite photo from the book:

Beautifulness! A stairway can hardly be more attractive. Of course in this business, there is an obvious obstacle: it is hard to find those bits you want to decorate the wall with. I guess it can take a lifetime to collect them. Nevertheless, it should be worth the effort. Other nice inspiration in this book includes brilliant displays in bathrooms (example to the left below), and pictured right: prints hung with clips. Yupp, I really like this book!
