At Mia’s: Happy Details

You cry – I answer..! Here’s a round of things from my place. I’ll start off with some happy details. First – from the living room – a Banter Banner and some lovely faux peonies from Ahern’s Atelier.

And second, below, my very sweet owl who got to travel all the way from Montgomery, PA…together with some vintage lamp foots I haven’t yet decided what to do with (I’m thinking of a collection).

Now here’s some other facts to keep you updated on the trendey-sisters:

  • Mia’s favourite interior style categories are Faded Glamour and the two similar ones: Eclectic styles and Parisian Chic style (the latter with a French spin).
  • Mia is the little sister. Her brother-in-law calles her “Little Miss Bossy”
  • Her favourite tags are granny-esque, headboard, boho charm and blue :)
  • Back in the day, Henen used to use Mia as a robot. If she said “A-B-C-1-2-3″ before the tasks Mia was happy to perform them.

Teal and white…

…is a successful colour combination. I think it looks both fresh and calming and I love how the deep and lush shade of teal (or dark turquoise) makes the white pop out. Red and yellow accents completes the look.

Flower Photo Prints & Faux Flowers

Wednesday July 7, 2010

Human kind has always used flowers for decoration. And there are countless ways to do it. Wild flowers in a vase or jar, floral curtains, floral wallpapers, floral fabrics … Two supersimple and supertrendy ways to give the home a floral sparkle is to hang some lovely photo prints on the wall and to use faux flowers. An exceptionally fine example of the first held, photo prints, can be found @MayaLee Photography. Below is Blooming Bucket and Endless summer (5×7 prints).

Never before has the market for faux flowers been so updated and qualitative. Many times, they actually look better than the real thing…Needless to say, when time flies they do .)

Personally, I really look forward to visit Abigail Aherns Flower shop (above, some pics from the online shop) These faux flowers are not just any, they look factually blooming marvelous:) Flowers are really key in home decorating.

Idyllic Garden Scenes

Saturday June 26, 2010

In a land far, far away, on a little hill above a dense pine forest in the remote northern Swedish wilderness, you will find this idyllic summer house garden. Here, creativity and enthusiasm has created an artistic and imaginative environment. First, some snap shots from the conservatory:

See how many frogs, gnomes and colourful flower arrangements you can spot! :) Here’s another dose…

In the extended garden the deep green forest foliage provides the ideal backdrop for the cute wine cellar and the local wildlife. This is charming, unpretentious and pretty.

Pretty Pansies in Pots from the Past

Wednesday April 21, 2010
Pretty Pansies in Pots from the Past

At my latitude one may have to wait looong, almost until summer, to put out beautiful flowers on the balcony. But there is an amazing plant – the pansy – that despite its splendor actually can stand some splashes of April snow and occasional sub-zero temperatures. I house my brave beauties in flea market bargains: e.g an copper bowl that in the old days used to carry coal, and a worn and torn old chocolate box.

There’s rosemary, that’s for remembrance; pray,
love, remember: and there is pansies. that’s for thoughts.
