Summery Vibe

This time a year – that is around May/June – I always return to my summer house dreams. With the posts The interiors of a dream summer house & Summer House Dream II – and the tag summer house – I’ve got more than enough inspiration to decorate my little house when the time, finally, comes! It won’t be this year, but hopefully something for 2013. Anyways, judging from my posts, my ideal summer house decor is pretty light (white or mild wall colours) with bright and playful strokes. Basically countryish with folklore, industrial and/or boho style elements. I love the simplicity + colour explosion in the top pic (plus: the rag rugs and the kitchen couch are summer house essentials).
The composition below certainly belogs to a dream summer house, but seems to have moved into a squary city apartment or modern house. Nice in one way, but a poor substitute to the real thing!

Stuck in the city all summer, I have compensated the lack of countryside’s water and nature with ordering this item: an amazingly beautiful Anthropologie cushion. Will show pics when it arrives, and also some photos of our new sofa & newly painted living room wall. I.e. news coming up shortly!

Welcome, Lovely May!

Just a quick note to let you know we are alive n’ kickin! Decor-wise, Mike & I have just painted a wall in our living room. In a gorgeous green-grey hue – pics will come! I have some funny ideas on how to hang paintings and all, and Mike has approved, so far. More on that later, for now: some pinkish boho and ethno-vibed loveliness.

Here’s how May was welcomed 1 year ago. Still love the imperfection.

SS 2012 Trend: Soiled Pastels, Beiges & Greys

The main (Swedish) home decor trend theme for next season (ss 2012) is pronounced: lightly soiled pastels against a base of bright, sandy beige and grey tones. Says who? Says Formex, the largest meeting place for nordic interior design. And even though they are not always right, in terms of actual impact in people’s homes and minds – let’s say the SS 2010 Glorious Mix of psychedelic patterns and a modern jet-set feel didn’t happen – Formex usually somewhat nail it.

For the spring season of 2012 key concepts are sensuality, lightness, dreams and your own personal bubble. The home is our personal mood board where we collect, arrange and display objects that arouse memories and feelings. Formex sees an enhanced feeling for the sensual and tactile, dreamy and poetical, and that we’re attracted by floating and gauzy materials, graceful shapes, three-dimensional effects, transparents and iridescent surfaces. The colour palette is slightly off-colour pastels, against a background of light, sandy beige and grey tones. Dark graphite grey provides the contrast and iridescent mother-of-pearl gives the otherwise light, romantic range of colours a modern touch.

We’ll see! Muted pastels + rougher materials is certainly a spring-favourite of mine. So is the beige/blond+grey combo. And for now, my association is decor guru Pippi Longstocking goes to Italy. Add some mindfulness and pearls. But it’s Christmas season still! This was just an appetizer, we’ll get back to spring in January. But if someone wants to be ahead of the trends, here’s a lovely x-mas inspiration – or actually Hanukkah decor (Thanks Cep!) to inspire:

Bedrrrroom

Trendey has been awfully quiet lately..!  I’m busy saving the world, and if not Henen decides on a sudden comeback, this slow is how it’ll stay a couple more months. To spice up the place a little, here’s some views from my favourite room. Firstly, note that I put my grey skirt on the Ge’-lamp. Made it much nicer…Though I miss wearing my soft skirt. And that’s Grandpa’s well-used stool.
I finally found some gorgeous old birch-bark lamps at a flea market up in the north. Put 2 on the cupboard.

And below you can view our son Cliff (born in 1965 at A.D. Sutton & Sons factory) and also another birch barch lamp; this one is mismatched with a wooden ball lamp stand I painted the same colour as the wall.
The sunny & warm colour scheme makes me happy. What I cherish most is our kilims, they make the room so inviting and homey. I’m a sucker for rugs, the more of them, the better.

Classic Stockholm Beauties

My feelings are very warm for typical Stockholm beauties like these. With the wide plank flooring, the tile stove and the generous ceiling height creating such wonderful sense of space. Decorating a home under conditions like these is a sheer delight. Walls kept ‘Stockholm-white’ (like above) or painted, wallpapered…Any style works.  | via estate agencies fastighetsbyrån & susanne persson |
