Welcome, Lovely May!

Just a quick note to let you know we are alive n’ kickin! Decor-wise, Mike & I have just painted a wall in our living room. In a gorgeous green-grey hue – pics will come! I have some funny ideas on how to hang paintings and all, and Mike has approved, so far. More on that later, for now: some pinkish boho and ethno-vibed loveliness.

Here’s how May was welcomed 1 year ago. Still love the imperfection.

Retro & Homespun

It’s time for another vitamin injection! Vivid turquoise in a nice colour mingle. Love the folklore portion & the homespun vibe. Great 70′s style mixin’!

Have a great week! I’m looking into a fun one – off to London to see Henen!

And hey, have a look at all these beautiful, colourful, exterior doors in Farrow & Ball’s competition

(I can’t decide between Railing and Brinjal..)

Spring Candy!

Hola! Long time no see…Intensive work is what I’ve been up to, followed by a likewise intense & sunny vacation in the Canaries. Now here’s some springy candy for your eyes! Firstly. a lovely bedside from the beautiful blog krickelin (a new favourite):

Next, a very very nicely set table! Pure spring gorgeousness. From sweet paul magazine, via fab blog bright bazaar:

Colours, colours, colours! The top trend this spring. How I’d love to have a hallway like this, with doors painted in various gorgeous shades…(from marie claire maison, april issue):

Or, another great-impact trick, to paint both the walls and the floors in versions of one nice colour (via residence magazine):

Funky style. I love the turquoise + blonde wood combo, and the darker green elements. Lastly, another spring fresh bedside (from marie claire maison) Lovely bedlinen & colour scheme:

With sunny March greetings!

Colourboost The Whiteness!

The weather outside these days is reminiscent of the interior style that has been (and for some, still is) worshipped in Sweden: totally white from all the crispy snow, and when sun sets: black. Some naked trees to add a bit of wood. This little pic to the right, via est magazine, has circulated in the blogosphere the last few days and not least on many Swedish interior blogs, It’s been said oooh’s & ahh’s: what a lovely colour scheme! The pendulum has begun to swing and this is so groundbreaking it deserves an own post :) So following this lead, here’s some more creative & colour-boosted versions of a whiteish style!

This pic above is from Living etc‘s fresh new March issue – an issue filled to the brim with exciting white interiors. A touch of homespun (the chair), a fun flowery sofa together with another, colourful, sofa and a gorgeous rug makes this place interesting & cool. As you see can one side of the wall is not decorated yet, but it can be filled with basically anything. Flowing velvet drapes adorn the windows and adds extra warmth to the room (you can’t see that in the pic though, only in my mind). And below, same source and inspirational value: a white kitchen and white bedroom stylishly and creatively boosted with lovely colourful elements.

2012 Colours: Deep Blue & Industrial Yellow

Checking back on the year past, I found that the most read post during 2011 is Different Shades of Blue. It’s a post from ’09, all about the colour blue. It’s obvious that blue (with its 74 post tagged) has been a pretty stabile theme here since Trendey first went online in 2009. So how about 2012′s blue?

Trend reports say it’s time for blues with underwater depth. Bright midnighty blue. Like inky night skies. In general, International colour trends 2012 by Akzo Nobel says this year’s colours are full-bodied with lots of charachter and meaning, but also tender hushed pastels, chic neutrals and edgy brights. The industrial style is still vivid.

The 2012 blue is particularly well paired with industrial yellow.

Just like the Swedish flag! Hurray to us ;) It’s a great colour combo and I’m actually planning on doing something exciting – though small-scale – with F&B’s Drawing Room Blue and the interesting yellow Babouche. I might paint some frames or other stuff for the bedroom wall. And maybe, just maybe (if work load allows) the light airy blue in my home office/our guest room will go midnighty blue. Stay tuned for the results.
