Hem (Home) 2010 is Sweden’s largest interior decor & design fair. It has the great advantage that one can shop on site, not only look. And as the fair is organized in cooperation with Elle Interiör (Swedish Elle Decor), there is an emphasis on trend display. This is Trendey’s report.
First of all, the knitted recycled and handicrafted home decor trend. It’s stronger than ever and sooo cozy appropriate in the Autumn. My favourites are Oddbird‘s lamp with wooden balls and knitted lampshades (top right) and Wendinskan‘s new Rag Lights (bottom left, made from old rag rugs). You can see more of these rag lights in Wendinskans blog, where you also in the near future can follow her work to renovate an old house. Next up are some trendy details: playful, vintage and gold (I love circus-themed decor!) – from the shop & webshop Koffert – plus some nice retro robot candle sticks.
Designgalleriet choose to display what they call one of this year’s big trends – the pool party. Think happy and cheerful, and more specifik the 80s, Falcon Crest, Miami Vice, pastels, plastic, flamingos, umbrella drinks and sand between your toes. Optimistic, young and innovative design displayed:
Now lastly, the nature trend was overwhelming, almost. The moose is the new antler. Moose or elk, same king. They had a pretty one at the trend display:
And some more nature to round off this interior trend report. With a magpie included, the trendiest bird.

A sweet stencil-style message on a homey floral background – printed on canvas over wood frame, by Urban Outfitters. And a personalized mantel display via shootfactory. Home is what your heart says!
Discuss!I’ve got stripes, stripes around my shoooulders...
I rather like the impression of black & white stripes in decor. It’s classic, modern and stylish. Stripes work well in any style. How ever the trend winds blow. I love my b&w Bob Pappelina rug, it always fits somewhere. There are some b&w stripes around this Autumn, e.g. in the well-circulated pics above from DAY and Ferm Living. Always classic and an interesting style-break in many settings, right now I’d combine the black-white-striped details with grey, with colour schemes like these, added a bith of warmth.
Personally, I am not particularly fond of modern graphic patterns, I think they often have a disruptive effect. As small details though, they can be really nice..

For large surfaces, I prefer a white pattern against a black background rather than vice versa. These dramatic walls below are really cool I think. And and extra hello to the boho charmig magpies!

Swedish paint company Alcro is set to launch their 10th collection of the interior design paint series ad (alcro designers). This time, Alcro has engaged Dutch trend forecaster Li Edelkoort. As expected, there is a ultra-high sensitivity to trends in her choices. The new colour collection, ad.10, consists of 7 families with 4 colours in each, plus three complementary colours. Li Edelkkort has derived inspiration from the bird society. Here’s the first example, rural birds. With names such as Rooster crest, Chicken coop, Brown hen och Guinea fowl these paint colours are inspired by farm birds and rural culture.
Regarding the ad.10 colour collection Li Edelkoort states the end has come to the era of individualism. We rely more on each other, network and collaborate. Inspired by the doves we flock together in dark, grey spaces. Green, blue and purple accents give life to the base colour. Concrete grey becomes a key colour in interior design. In other words, this is another nail in the coffin for white. Darker interiors eat white like the hungry bird is munching seed. Next up,
The interior design world has had the poor things locked up in birdcages long enough; quoth the raven, ‘nevermore’…
