Book pages as wallpaper…

Posted on 2010/08/12 by Henen in boho, DIY for Walls.., Headboards, industrial vintage, Wallpapers

…can be a rather fun and quirky alternative to going out and buying finished wallpaper. You could surround yourself with your favourite novel or poetry collection, do your bit for the environment by recycling old newspapers, or why not use a dictionary so you’ll never have far to go when you want to look something up! :)

I quite like the way the bookpages look on the walls in the image above – a bit haphazard and without too much yellowing of the pages. The end result is rather light and fresh. Below is another example.

I love the bed in this picture, the luxury of the white leather tufted headboard clashes in an interesting way with the scruffy thriftiness of the book-papered wall.

Another two examples below, this time with more vintage in the mix and with more ageing of the bookpages.

This is a great idea! It requires quite a bit of effort with all small pages (and boldness!), but if the result is as lovely as in the 1st pic, it should be worth it.

yes, I reckon that is a major drawback – what you save in wallpaper costs, you’ll have to put in as effort! Must be a sticky job getting all those pages in place.. I like the idea though, so will keep it in mind for some SMALL wallspace that might need some rough and ready treatment. Could be fun on the chimneybreast over a fireplace in a study for example! :)

I also heart this feature! A wonderful collection of images there. Quite an effort YES – you’d better pick the right book!! lol

LOVE your blog, thanks for a ll inspiration

Anyone who knows where I can find that animal on the wall in plywood?

  • Henen

Hi Amanda! I bet there are several versions of these plywood or cardboard animal heads out there so others may know of better sources, but here are two places where similar ones can be found: http://www.snow-home.co.uk/store/itemDetails.asp?search=true&id=52-43-2267 (plywood, 129 GBP) or http://www.cardboardsafari.com/shop/product_cbs1002.php (cardboard, 28 USD) They’re nice aren’t they – such an animal-friendly way of displaying stag heads! :)
