Summery Vibe

This time a year – that is around May/June – I always return to my summer house dreams. With the posts The interiors of a dream summer house & Summer House Dream II – and the tag summer house – I’ve got more than enough inspiration to decorate my little house when the time, finally, comes! It won’t be this year, but hopefully something for 2013. Anyways, judging from my posts, my ideal summer house decor is pretty light (white or mild wall colours) with bright and playful strokes. Basically countryish with folklore, industrial and/or boho style elements. I love the simplicity + colour explosion in the top pic (plus: the rag rugs and the kitchen couch are summer house essentials).
The composition below certainly belogs to a dream summer house, but seems to have moved into a squary city apartment or modern house. Nice in one way, but a poor substitute to the real thing!

Stuck in the city all summer, I have compensated the lack of countryside’s water and nature with ordering this item: an amazingly beautiful Anthropologie cushion. Will show pics when it arrives, and also some photos of our new sofa & newly painted living room wall. I.e. news coming up shortly!

Welcome, Lovely May!

Just a quick note to let you know we are alive n’ kickin! Decor-wise, Mike & I have just painted a wall in our living room. In a gorgeous green-grey hue – pics will come! I have some funny ideas on how to hang paintings and all, and Mike has approved, so far. More on that later, for now: some pinkish boho and ethno-vibed loveliness.

Here’s how May was welcomed 1 year ago. Still love the imperfection.

Retro & Homespun

It’s time for another vitamin injection! Vivid turquoise in a nice colour mingle. Love the folklore portion & the homespun vibe. Great 70′s style mixin’!

Have a great week! I’m looking into a fun one – off to London to see Henen!

And hey, have a look at all these beautiful, colourful, exterior doors in Farrow & Ball’s competition

(I can’t decide between Railing and Brinjal..)

Pale & Pretty Pastels

One of my favourite themes this season is the pale/soiled/dirty pastels. I.e. the main home decor trend this spring & summer, according to Formex. Pale pink & copper are best friends. If anything, these colour schemes are pretty. I’ll let this round speak for itself…

A trendy new collection: IKEA PS 2012

Inspired by Henen’s comeback, and exciting new product releases, I must say a few words on the new IKEA PS collection. I guess you’ve seen these pics around quite a lot lately, but in my opinion it’s all worth the buzz. I’m impressed! Great styling too, let’s begin with my fav pic:

In this seventh PS [post scriptum] collection, IKEA derived inspiration from its own archives. The 46 new products are inspired by old catalogue images, and the design is updated with a 2012 twist and durable materials. Totally in trend! This last year retro styles, 50′s to 70′s leading way, has been almost overwhelming. But it’s really cool of IKEA to do this I think. Looking at the past is the way forward. And glancing through old IKEA catalogues is indeed a pleasure, just look at the 1965 edition here

This chest of drawers, made of fast-growing pine, is a favourite of mine. Really easy to personalize – a gorgeous base. Won’t fit into our home right now, but next house!

Here’s the ballet-dressed lamp again (also on top pic). Funny thing! Great to mix into a rough/industrial or of course any style (as long as it’s not allover rosy romantic or shabby chic)). The chair is kind of cool too. I guess the yellow antlers and the owl aren’t part of the collection, but who knows, I like the direction it all is taking..

Another new lamp looking good. Possibly a renewal is ahead in the bedding section? That would be nice, IKEA can not be blamed for being fashion-forward on that note. Lastly, some nice new vases.

IKEA PS 2012 will be available from May 2012. Now let’s hope the IKEA stores will be updated styling-wise accordingly. A large PS section, restyled every month, would certainly be the icing on this cake!

Happy Easter!

Just a quick note to say Happy Easter to you all! And THANK YOU. Warmest thanks for stopping by and leaving notes! A special thanks to Nikita for your message (it made my day!). I’m very happy to hear & see that Trendey gets used for inspiration purposes despite its infrequent updates these days. Feel very free to explore the archives and do use the categories (above), so you find what suits your taste best. Here’s another little round of spring freshness!
