Blue-ish grey in several ways…

Grey is definitely one of my top favourite wall colours at the moment. Below are rooms decorated in a mix of styles, all with a gorgeous shade of blue-ish grey in common.

Trendy details: Numbers, Globes and Vintage Phones

Move over letters, it’s the numbers turn now…

World globes are all over the place at the moment. And that’s great as far as I’m concerned. I’ve always liked globes - they’re decorative, fun and useful, and what a literal take on the global trend! :) I think globes are particularly nice in groups or in unusual places, like in a kitchen.

Vintage or retro phones have been around for awhile and judging from the frequency they now pop up in interior decor pics and the amount of retro phones for sale in stores, they are more popular than ever. I love the way they look, but I wouldn’t want to replace my handy hands-free phone with one that needs to be plugged into the wall. Looks great as a purely decorative object though..

Josef Frank to the rescue!

A modern minimalist white kitchen (stylish, yet rather discrete and unremarkable) turns much more interesting with the help of colourful and fun textiles from Swedish designer Josef Frank.

The splashback in the kitchen was created with the textile ‘Brazil’, protected and kept secure by a glass sheet. Such an excellent idea for creating an original feature in the kitchen! Same textile pattern for the blind and cushions. Very light and pretty…and those Wegner Wishbone chairs look right at home.

The home above was featured on Skona Hem.

In a different home (also from Skona Hem), Josef Frank makes another appearance. This time in the form of a the wallpaper pattern ‘Springbells‘. Much more retro, much darker… Not sure whether I’d be able to live with this design style, it’s a bit full-on… But hey, I’d love to visit in a kitchen like this and I do love the colour bravery!

Warm and cosy bottoms at the dinner table

Every now and again sheepskin or other animal hides appear on chairs in dining room pictures. I think it’s a great idea – it creates a stylish and relaxed look and adds warmth and texture. Especially nice in minimalist and industrial style rooms! A few examples below.
