2011 IKEA Catalogue [styling and trends]

Posted on 2010/08/19 by Mia in AW 2010, folklore, Frame Groupings, industrial vintage, Rugs

This is a IKEA catalogue 2011 roundup: some interior styling details, colours and overall trend themes. We’ll start off with a couple of styling features.

Examples of tricks we knew.. :p On the whole, I think the styling in the IKEA catalogues only gets better for each year. No doubt they are keeping pace with time. As for colours, IKEA fancies red and blue in particular the year 2011.

Good choices imho! Not too exciting and groundbreaking, but lagom (you know the Swedish word ‘lagom’? It’s like a National Word. Things must be moderate and pretty average, i.e.”just the right amount”.) With that said, however, the blue armchair might be a little too blue. Anyway, in terms of interior style trends the catalogue content comprises at least two more recent, apparent ones – a follow-up on the folklore style and a partially new industrial style.

What an excellent roundup! Makes me want to browse through a copy of the catalogue right now! =) I think I’ve already spotted two things I might want to get if they look as good in real life: the round light wood lamp in the right corner of the image on overlapping rugs and that industrial stool at the bottom. Going to IKEA this Saturday already as I need to stock up on Swedish goodies from the IKEA food shop also :)

  • Mia

Thank you dear! :) Exactly, I’m keeping my ear against the mail drop waiting for it to be delivered!

If I remember correctly the lamp in the right corner of the overlapping rugs-image is in white plastic?? If so, it might have the name FILLSTA. Would be great though if was available in wood! I agree on the industrial stool, DALFRED. Very nice piece.

Good, shop a lot! And especially food, then my luggage wont have to smell salmon on my next London trip! ;)

You’re absolutely right! I saw it in the flesh this Saturday and it was made of white plastic – no idea why I thought it would be a light wood lamp! Wishful thinking perhaps… I was attracted by its groovy curves but didn’t like the plastic look much. Didn’t see the stool either, could be that it’s not in store yet, at least in the UK as the catalogue is not out here either until September. In any case, the most crucial task was completed – I’m now all stocked up on Swedish food! :)

  • Mia

There you go! I It’s a pity on the design, it would def look better in wood. And sad no Dalfred was there…maybe he was out of stock. He is in the uk-us-and-swe site now – and hopefully in stock when you do the bigtime shopping for the new house :) Btw, have you seen this new IKEA site, “LIVE” http://www.ikeafamilylive.com Not brand new and not too exciting, but an inspirational home or two.

And oh, while I’m commenting this post – what do you think of the way they’ve arranged the furniture in the upper right pic? My first though was *functional* – second opinion: anti-social. Imagine you and me in that room, you, facing the TV, me resting in chaise longue, u wouldn’t know I was there!! Right behind you:p

  • Henen

Hah! You’re right, since I’d definitely be glued to the TV as usual and you more likely to lounge about with your nose in your laptop out of sight of the TV, we wouldn’t really see much of eachother in a room like that! Tihi, and I just have this sneaky suspicion that you might entertain yourself by throwing popcorn at me from such an advantageous position – think that might be a premonition… or deja vue perhaps ;)

Btw thanks, that website looks rather interesting, spotted some very Swedish-looking rooms, will have a good look tomorrow! Gonatt!
